Media WiseHave any of you guys heard of the NIMF? Nope? Okay, to brief you guys, NIMF stands for National Institute on Media and the Family, it's an independent, non-partisan, non-sectarian, nonprofit organization.

Errr...from that and the title alone I bet some of you guys can already feel the oncoming surge of parental restrictions, eh? In this case, you're right on the target.

NIMF has just released the 11th issue of their MediaWise Video Game Report Card. Now, whaddya guys think this report card grades? Yep, you got it -- video games. It basically runs down the goings-on in the gaming community and grades video games according to how "child-friendly" they are.

Now before you get your panties all in a twist, they're not exactly anti-gaming you guys, they're just, as they say, looking out for the welfare of children and teens. The report card is actually pretty intensive so we'll just get to the core of this whole issue and bring you guys the list of games that are parent-approved, and those that aren't, alright?

The Godfather

This gameplay clip titled by GameTrailers as "Citywide Menace" falls only in under three categories - everything you're not supposed to do outside of the game, only The Sopranos can do on TV and things only late mob boss John Gotti can get away with.

Extreme violence and complete disregard for the law is shown in this clip as you take on the role of a new recruit to the Corleone who's trying to prove himself and make his way to the top of the ranks.

You're next hit is to download the video just below this article. The Godfather has already been released, hopefully, this video could help you decide if you'll buy it or not.

ScarfaceLooks like yet another movie/TV adaption has been canned on the Xbox 360 after yesterday's Sopranos. Now it's poor Al Pacino who has received a kick out of the promising next-gen future. Vivendi Games today confirmed that Scarface: The World Is Yours will not be released on the Xbox 360. "Cancelled" is maybe not the right word for this anyway, as a Xbox 360 was never clearly confirmed, but strongly rumored.

But, there's also good news since Scarface is now headed for the Playstation Portable. Presumably more than a stripped-down home console port, the PSP version will get a different name, Scarface: Power. Money. Respect. and will combine turn-based strategy with real-time combat. Players will be able to capture turfs (Hi there, San Andreas) and eliminate rival gangs and crime bosses in the single-player mode. A multiplayer mode is in the works too, allowing four players to take over the streets of Miami simultaneously.

We'll keep you updated on new info on Power. Money. Respect. as we get it. The World Is Yours, the original game, is now set for release on PS2, Xbox and PC in October.

THQTHQ held a conference call today, confirming the cancellation of the Sopranos game for the Xbox 360. The title remains on schedule to be released on the Playstation 2. According to THQ, there "was not enough difference" between the PS2 and Xbox 360 version. Originally, THQ wanted to develop the X360 version as a genuine next-gen effort with features the PS2 version wouldn't have.

The company also reported their revenue results for the first quarter of 2006 today, which did not look as good as Ubisoft's - the cancellation could be part of an effort to save resources.

Net losses of $12.1 million were reported by THQ, three times as much as in the same period last year.

The Sopranos game for the X360 was supposed to present next-gen gamers the first playable version of the long-running, award-winning television show. The screens that were released by THQ for the Xbox 360 were indeed very similar to the visual qualities of the PS2 version, and even for the latter, the game did not look very good.

THQ's future is looking much brighter: The publisher will delve further into the next-gen era with the release of Saint's Row and Company Of Heroes. Additionally, next-gen ports of Cars head to shelves this holiday season.
