South Park has always had a lot of in tune with current events. As most
fans might remember, they did an episode of South Park featuring World
of Warcraft, and that show won an Emmy Award
for Outstanding Animated Program. For this week's upcoming episode, the kids from Colorado will be taking on the Legends of Rock. That's right. Gamer Node reports that South Park will be doing an episode focusing on Guitar Hero. It seems that this week's episode will focus on Stan and Kyle, as their friendship gets strained because of Guitar Hero, as Stan and Kyle are on opposite ends of the Guitar Hero playing spectrum. See Randy play Guitar Hero in his undies... after the jump! |

Sony
Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has just revealed their plans of
a new TV advertising campaign for their PSP handheld platform. Who's
the endorser, you ask? It's none other than NFL All-Pro athlete Michael
Strahan of the New York Giants. The football star will be the image model for the new PSP campaign that will extend the "Dude, Get Your Own" line of commercials. In fact, Strahan will be appearing side by side with the PSP's "Annoying Guy" made popular in the existing ads. Hmm... A tall tower of muscle faced against a skinny PSP fanboy. Accident waiting to happen, much? More details behind the Full Article link below! |

Over at the official Sony PlayStation 3 blogs, developer Greg Easley of Super-Ego Games posted a message announcing their upcoming Sony PS3 exclusive Rat Race. Super-Ego's Rat Race will be made available via the PlayStation Network and is set to hit this winter.Easley calls Rat Race as Super-Ego Games' "labor of love" and it's going to be an episodic comedy-adventure hybrid in the vein of popular American sitcoms. Voice actors from such hits like "South Park," "Sex and the City," "Ugly Betty," and more are in the cast, so expect barrels of laughter here. Set in a dysfunctional office that has a staff which will "make the Enron guys look like Nobel Prize laureates," your goal as the player is very simple: survive each day without blowing your top or getting fired. With characters like Joy Chung, an impossible and hot, PR exec, Chip Bratsby III, a pompous jerk whose only desire is to get you fired, and Dr. Ron Durfman, a research scientist who "may or may not be intimate with his lab monkey," PlayStation Network players will find themselves laughing with every episode released. Easley said: Our goal is to give you the feeling of 'playing' inside an episode of your favorite TV show. Sometimes we describe Rat Race as an interactive sitcom, but that doesn’t do it justice. There’s more to the experience than funny dialogue. Along the way you’ll sneak, sprint, solve puzzles, eavesdrop, steal, and even "neutralize" that lab monkey. Uh, so where are the rats? Easley didn't say. In any case, Super-Ego Games' Rat Race for the Sony PlayStation 3 seems to hold some serious promise based from Easley's description. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope that Rat Race entertains gamers. Keep it here for more PlayStation Network updates. |

The 59th Create Arts Emmy Awards was held last Saturday and as we've previously reported, South Park's "Make Love, Not Warcraft" was nominated for an Emmy under the Outstanding Animated Program (for Programming Less Than One Hour) category. The results have now been revealed and right from the red carpet, the foul-mouthed kids just bagged the Emmy for their WoW-machinima episode. (Aww. And I had my bets on that Avatar episode.) Yeah, for those who remember, South Park had some strong competition to go against for the Emmy. Other nominees included:

Every self respecting World of Warcraft player has seen or at least know the Emmy-nominated South Park episode, Make Love, Not Warcraft. Its lore is just about as viral as Leroy Jenkins and we all know why. The foul mouthed boys of South Park has been addicted to Blizzard's popular MMO and things go crazy with them questing to save Azeroth from a powerful griefer. And guess what? The guys at Comedy Central are offering a 15% discount for World of Warcraft players who purchase South Park: The Complete Tenth Season. The tenth season of course also features episodes like The Return of Chef and Mystery of the Urinal Deuce. Anyway, WoW players simply have to use the gift code "WARCRAFT" at the Comedy Central Shop to avail of the said discount and free shipping to boot. |

The boys of South Park will once again team up with the orcs, elves, and humans of World of Warcraft with this Comedy Central offering. Unfortunately, no, we're not talking about a followup to the Emmy-nominated South Park episode, Make Love, Not Warcraft. What we have for you is word about a free 14-day trial edition WoW DVD-ROM, which you can get when you purchase the South Park: The Complete Tenth Season DVD.This offer, to be made available on August 21, is being peddled by Comedy Central Home Entertainment, which currently airs episodes of the said cartoon. South Park: The Complete Tenth Season DVD is an exclusive three-disc collector's edition comprised of all 14 top-rating episodes, including the aforementioned paradoxical take on the popularity of the massive multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), World of Warcraft. No word yet on its pricing, but if it's got a 14-day free WoW trial it's gotta be worth the price right? Who knows, they might actually decide to throw in the Sword of A thousand Truths as a bonus. |
