Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has published a two-page White Knight Story spread in their latest issue. The feature focuses on the game's main characters as well as some of the creatures you'll encounter. Check out the scans at the full article.

It's been a while since we really heard anything substantial about Shirokishi Monogatari, otherwise known as White Knight Story/Chronicles. To that end, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that Famitsu uncovered the release date for this RPG. Find out exactly when it's coming out after the jump!

It's been ages since we last heard anything about White Knight Story (Shirokishi Monogatari), Level 5's ambitious PS3 exclusive RPG. We might get to hear a lot more about the game soon, though, if an update on the Level 5 website is any indication. More in the full article.

Jeux France has posted five new scans for Level-5's Shirokishi Monogatari, or White Knight Story, featuring some pretty sweet screenshots of the game.

The five scans seem to indicate something RPG players will definitely like: players can alter the look of the party beyond their clothing, much like an RPG like Neverwinter Nights might allow for facial customization.

Time for some more gaming goodness from the ongoing Tokyo Game Show. This time we have a trailer for White Knight Story (Shirokishi Monogatari for all of the Japanese-speaking people out there).

White Knight Story is Level 5's first offering for the Sony PlayStation 3. This RPG title promises to be a grand experience for fans of the genre, with a planned running time of around 50 to 60 hours and huge enemies reminiscent of those seen in Shadow of the Colossus.

Little else is known about the game and the trailer doesn't show a lot of gameplay footage apart from what appears to be main protagonist Lenard's transformation into the White Knight, but the graphics are really top-notch. Check out the YouTube clip uploaded by vgplayerz below.

Degenki Online's yearly Start/End-of-the-year-feature is out again, and RPGfan has a nice collection of comments from Japanese developers about what they have in store for gamers on 2007.

Kenji Matsuhara, director of Koei's online business wants to capitalize on the PS3's CELL processor. Given the amount of commentary we've been reading from the more vocal of developers on how hard it is to program for the CELL, this is definitely good news. It's nice to hear that some people are thinking of the CELL as an opportunity and a challenge instead of a roadblock that prevents 100% usage of the PS3's potential.

Hiroshi Matsuyama,  president of CyberConnect 2, the guys who are responsible for the .hack RPG games emphasized the different functions and opportunities offered by each of the three systems. He also confirms that they've begun working with the new hardware.

Tako Miyoshi of Phantasy Star fame thinks that the Wii as a whole has a lot to offer. Yuuji Naka thinks that it's the new input devices (the SIXAXIS and the Wiimote) that will dictate the future.

Nippon Ichi's Souhei Shinkawa is a bit more pragmatic. He points that due to a shrinking market and declining sales figures of high profile games, the key to survival in the coming year is to create games that truly take advantage of the capabilities of the console that it is made for.

In contrast to Shinkawa's console-oriented stance, Makoto Yoshidzumi, producer of the Tales of series says that, traditionally, the Tales series wasn't really about the latest technology or really good graphics, but was about using existing methods and technology to deliver to players stories that they can enjoy. However, the producer does say that he feels that the time has come for the entire concept behind the Tales series to be re-built.

Atushi Taniguchi of From Soft promises that they will have a new DS game of an existing franchise soon that will feature multiplayer support. He says that they will make an announcement about it soon.

Level 5 president Akihiko Hino says that they had no problem adapting to the new systems. Currently Level 5 is working on several titles for the DS and Shirokishi Monogatari (White Knight Story), the PlayStation 3.

Mmm. White Knight... Can't wait.

We've given you some reports about Shirokishi Monogatari before. Well, it looks like the RPG hamsters at Level 5, the guys who made Dragon Quest VIII and Rogue Galaxy, have been busy on their RPG hamster wheels. We say this because the HD trailer for Shirokishi Monogatari, or roughly translated as White Knight Story, looks just plain sweet.

The premise for White Knight Story isn't exactly run-of-the-mill fantasy. Young wide-eyed boy. Ancient artifact. Artifact turns boy into 7 meter tall giant White Knight. Giant-sized Black Knights ready to rival you. Enemies 2000 meters in size. This is Shadow of the Colossus meets fantasy meets giant robot action.

And no, I don't think the Black Knight will ever say: "'tis only a flesh wound." Enjoy the video folks.
