  • Set Screen Type (4:3 more faster, 16:9 full screen but slow)
  • PSPWebcam open all necessary, on PC...
  • It work with NetHost!
Please note that Xarro has not yet tested NetHost compatibility but according to the coder, Sanguinus (the developer of the PC2PSP homebrew app) says that it works.

The download includes a readme file with installation and usage instructions, so please read through it before you install this app. Also, check out the video of PSPWebcam in action at this previous post for more information about it.

Basilisk II - Image 1Sanguinus and his friend recently updated ChaosKnight's Basilisk II files, improving its ability to work on the PSP, as well as adding some additional files for people to use in conjunction with the application.

Basilisk II is a Mac open source emulator which will essentially run Mac OS7 on your PSP. Sanguinus also added that he and his friend "put together a freeware tool we found on the internet for editing DSK files. Also, we have made a DSK file with a game of checkers on it and a game of chess also a JPEG viewer."

Here are some additional notes for you to think about. Sanguinus notes that if you want to install it, just extract the files into your game folder and run the application. Enjoy!
  • It is surprisingly quick.
  • Some window moving things cause it to hang, such as scrolling the horizontal scrollbar.
  • Shutdown causes it to hang, so just use Home button to quit.
  • Installing Quicktime is virtually impossible. I spent several hours trying without success as after it was installed it caused it to hang after booting.

PC2PSP - Image 1

Coder extraordinaire Sanguinus has just rolled out yet another release for his homebrew PSP app, PC2PSP. Just in case you weren't able to catch the previous version, or this is your first time to hear about this app, it basically allows you to "view a 480x272 area ,around the cursor on your PC,on your PSP."

So. What's new in this version? Well, one of the major changes is that you can now control the mouse using the analogue stick. But that's just one of the changes you'll find in this version, so check out the changelog below to see the full list of stuff that's changed.

Changelog:
  • Analogue Mouse Control
  • Speed Increases - i.e. more fps
  • Smoother Mouse Control
  • Loading Screen
  • Config file to choose quality
  • Bug Fixes
  • More Stable
Sanguinus says that this is possibly his last release for this app so he decided to include the source code for download also. But if there are requests for "easily do-able" changes, then he might release another version. Now, as with all homebrew thingamajigs, we advise you to check out the readme before trying your hand at this app.

PC2PSP, reborn. - Image 1 PC2PSP, reborn. - Image 2

Sanguinus' explanation for his new release of PC2PSP is kind of funny when you imagine it as the opening Star Wars montage. Still, this new release definitely deserves some praise, if only because he coded it from scratch.

If you remember our previous descriptions of this app, PC2PSP RC-1 (or MK-B, depending on what you're reading) will basically allow you to view and control your PC using your PSP, either wirelessly or through a USB cable... a VERY long USB cable, if you intend to go to another room. The recoding increased the stability, speed, and compatibility of the application, and even works with the Danzeff keyboard system now.

Sanguinus also expects a new release in the next few days, which should add more fixes to his program, as well as a speed boost. For now, don't hesitate to give him props for recoding his app, and offer him your votes of confidence over our forums. Just remember to check the readme if you're planning on using this app, so you don't accidentally mess the installation up, alright? Enjoy!

PC2PSP v0.82

This just in from sanguinus, the developer of PC2PSP, the app that takes screenshots from your PC and sends them through Usbhostfs or Nethostfs (untested yet) to your PSP and updates them about twice a second.

Last we posted, sanguinus added a mouse control but that version appeared to have some bugs. Some users reported having a problem with a missing OCX control so that has been added. In PC2PSP v1.0, you can now right click (Square) and double click (Triangle).

Also, he did some fixes to make it run a bit faster. The speed can be adjusted by changing the line:

screen.waitVblankStart(10 )

By decreasing 10 it goes faster but it will also reduce stability. If you want to go for stability opt for less screen update.

If you're still experiencing kinks, sanguinus added the the following troubleshooting tips:
  • Make sure the exe is in the folder with the Lua script and the pictures.
  • Make sure exe is running
  • Set pictures to read only
To install PC2PSP v1.0, unzip the download file into the folder which your PSP sees when you go into net/usb hostfs. Start usb/net hostfs the run the exe in the luaplayer/applications/screenshot/ folder. This sends the pics and acts as a PSP visible mouse. Okay, you probably know this by now but go ahead and read the readme file.

PC2PSP v0.8

Remember Lua PC Remote Viewer we reported about earlier? Well, sanguinus, the developer who made it, has released a new version of the application which lets you control your PC with your PSP.  This one's a major update, making the program much snazzier by adding mouse control.  Here's how the mouse control (not to be confused with mind control) works:
  • Dpad Up --> Mouse Up
  • Dpad Down --> Mouse Down
  • Dpad Left --> Mouse Left
  • Dpad Right --> Mouse Right
  • Left Click --> Cross
  • Exit PC app --> Circle
Sanguinus has also included a config file so that you can control the mouse speed. This is the final version unless a major bug is found or if many people request for a new feature; so make sure you get this application if you like the idea of remote control.

Lua PC Remote Viewer

Sanguinus has just informed us via our forums about his latest release which he calls the "LUA screen shot viewer thing," or in more *ehem* techie terms, he calls the Lua PC Remote Viewer.

He said he was originally trying to set up VNC (the thing that allows PSP control via WiFi) but he was unsuccessful at that so he worked on the PC Remote Viewer instead. So anyway, what does this app do? Basically, it takes screenshots and sends them through USBhostfs or Nethostfs (untested yet) to your PSP and updates them about twice a second. For the next version, he's planning to add mouse control as well.

Got it? Good. Sanguinis says that this has only been tested on USBhostfs because he couldn't set up Nethostfs on his PC. Also, the EXE was programmed on VB6 and was tested on Windows Vista RC1 should work on most versions of Windows. This is his first Lua project so he's asking you guys to be kind and not flame him if you find bugs. And as usual, feedback and comments from you guys would be highly appreciated so if you can, please drop him a line at our forums, which you can access via the link below.

Installation instructions:
  • unzip the zip file into the folder which your psp sees when you go into net/usb hostfs. Start usb/net hostfs. Run the exe in the luaplayer/applications/screenshot/ folder this is what sends the pics and acts as a psp visible mouse.
  • Open usb/net hostfs.
  • Run the eboot in the luaplayer folder.
  • It should run if you get an error mentioning JPG then try again it just means the EXE and the PBP are out of sync.
By the way, Sanguinus leaves us with the following note: "by decreasing 10 it goes faster but will reduce stability by increasing it, it will become more stable but the screen will refresh less often."
