UFO - Image 1Interesting the alleged Roswell alien landings have waned down since the 90's after the Air Force dismissed claims that a cover-up was done in order to seal the truth. Now, new interest in the phenomenon has sparked because of a retired Roswell officer's deathbed confession of sorts.

Lieutenant Walter Haut was the Air Force press relations officer during the Roswell incident. He died last year and left behind a sworn affidavit which was only to be opened after his death. The text revealed astonishing accounts that echoed earlier claims by Roswell witnesses.

Haut, in his statement, swore to have seen an egg-shaped craft with no wings, windows or landing gear about 12 feet in height and some six feet in width. He says that two alien bodies less than four feet tall were shown to him covered in tarpaulins. The bodies were humanoid in form but had heads which were strangely large for their bodies.

Also stated was that the craft was made out of very thin but extremely tough material. It was very light but could not be burned, broken or cut. Ultimately, he says that the material is by no means from a weather balloon as he earlier stated in his career. The story was part of a massive cover-up which included the confiscation of pieces recovered by civilians as souvenirs.

The sworn accounts of Haut are consistent with other accounts from witnesses like Jesse Marcel, who was also part of the air force. Undertaker Glenn Dennis also recalls getting an order for child-sized coffins from the air force base nearby. He also revealed that he met a nurse at the base who told him about the alien bodies. The nurse later disappeared and was never seen again.

Skeptics dismiss the affidavit left by Haut as a mere story with no proof. After 60 years, those who believe him will find it very hard to vindicate his statements.

UFO - Image 1Alien technology can save the planet from global warming. A story quite right out of a comic book? Not really, says a former Canadian Defense Minister.

83-year old Paul Hellyer, who served in Prime Minister Lester Pearson's cabinet and oversaw the integration of the Canadian Armed Forces, says "we need to persuade governments to come clean on what they know. Some of us suspect they know quite a lot, and it might be enough to save our planet if applied quickly enough."

Though the idea seems like it was taken right out of Conspiracy Theory, it does have some solid grounding based on facts and logic. Hellyer points to alien spacecraft sightings and crashes such as the mysterious incidents in Roswell, New Mexico, and other suspected cover-ups.

He says that for UFOs to reach Earth, they must have traveled extraordinary distances. This would only have been possible if the alien technology carries some kind of advanced propulsion methods or special fuels. If this is the case, he says, the technology "could eliminate the burning of fossil fuels within a generation ... that could be a way to save our planet."

Hellyer's statements may have been spurred by the clamor for a reduction in fossil fuel reduction after the dramatic disintegration of ice shelves in Antarctica. He also made news in Canada after telling the press that he saw a UFO.

UFO: Extraterrestrials packshot - Image 1You don't need to believe in the whole UFO-Roswell hullabaloo for you be able to appreciate Tri Synergy's upcoming 3D tactical/strategy game for the PC, UFO: Extraterrestrials. And in that same light, you need not argue with random space helmet-wearing people about the existence of UFOs to convince them that the game is promising.

Take for example Chaos Concept (the folks tasked with developing the game), they need not engage in long discussions to persuade PC gamers to buy their game. All they have to do is show the game's beauty by releasing some sweet looking screens. And whaddya know, that's exactly what they did!

AlienAnd here they are: the top ten Close Encounters of the Third Kind, disproved, debunked and refuted:

Myth 10: Aliens Constructed the Great Pyramids

Fact: Construction methods used by the ancient Egyptians are well documented in National Geographic, as well as other places. Those ancients had a lot more on the ball than we often give them credit for.

Myth 9: - Cattle Mutilations Are The Work Of Extra-Terrestrials

Fact: These types of predation been going on for thousands of years. It is only in the last thirty that people have thought to attribute them to extra-terrestrials. In fact, close and objective study shows that these "mysterious" features can be attributed to natural decay and scavengers.

Myth 8: The U.S. Government is Hiding Alien Bodies and Technology In Area 51

Fact: The U.S. Government - especially recently - is secretive by nature. This is near the site of several old nuclear tests, and media reporter Leslie Stahl suggests it may be a dumping ground for toxic waste as well - a good enough reason to stay away.

Myth 7: The Mysterious "Crop Circles" Are Actually Alien Spacecraft Landing Sites

Fact: Like the Pacific Northwest's bigfoot, this has been proven to be a hoax perpetrated by people with too much time on their hands.

Myth 6: The Face On Mars Was Built By an Alien Civilization

Fact: Close-up photos from different angles show that it is no more than a natural rock formation. Geology and wishful thinking can play strange tricks on the eyes.

Myth 5: The Alien Autopsy Film

Fact: See #7. The Special Effects artist who created this film confessed earlier this year.

Myth 4: Flying Saucers Are Alien Space Vehicles

Fact: This is the result of a misprint. The original reporter described what he saw as a "crescent shaped" that "flew erratic, like a saucer if you skip it across the water"—not that what he saw resembled an actual saucer. Unfortunately, the description stuck, and (see #6) people see what they want to see...

Myth 3: Alien Implants

Fact: According to Joe Nickell, who writes for the Skeptical Inquirer: “Since 1994 alleged implants have been surgically recovered but they’ve become remarkably diverse: one looks like a shard of glass, another a triangular piece of metal, still another a carbon fiber, and so on. " See #6.

Myth 2: Alien Abductions

Fact: False memories are sometimes created in therapy by psychologists who are careless. Other research have shown that a psychological process called "sleep paralysis" can also lead to strange delusions.

Myth 1: The Roswell Incident

Fact: In the years between the end of World War II and the 40-year period of paranoia known as the "Cold War," there was a spy program called Project Mogul. The scraps recovered by the Air Force were that of a weather balloon, and eyewitness descriptions are consistent with this. The stories of alien bodies appeared much later, and seem to be related to local folklore going back a century.
