Ubisoft claims to stay in top three - Image 1Up against the big name publishers in the same region, Ubisoft claimed the top three position as the most successful publisher in Europe, following their financial report that placed a 25% hike up their game sales revenue.

Not satisfied with their success, Ubisoft is now aiming to stay within the top three spots this fiscal year, even up against the likes of Electronic Arts and THQ.

"Already this year we stand as the number two publisher in Europe. We are well positioned to maintain our UK position in the top three publishers, " said Ubisoft UK's managing director Rob Cooper.

Ubisoft's recently announced Tom Clancy's EndWar and the still highly-anticipated Assassin's Creed are both sure bets for the company to keep ahead of the game.

Of course, Ubisoft isn't just targeting the next-generation platforms and their audience. They also claimed to have maintained a good balance of investment and care with the next-gen and mainstream titles. Many of those titles will soon be revealed at the Ubidays in Paris, come May 22 and 23.

Cooper claimed that the company's confidence in their performance for this year is deeply rooted in the sheer investments poured into their studios and their development capability over the past four years. "This is now really coming into fruition and is culminating in the creation of top quality product and ground-breaking new IPs," concluded Cooper.

Ubisoft, one of the largest video game publishers in the world, announced today that it has inked a deal with Ironstone Partners to bring the highly successful Top Trumps brand to the video gaming market in March 2007.

Top Trumps is a card-based game which gained popularity in the 1970's and 80's and combines luck, strategy and subject knowledge in a game-concept that has hooked children for several generations. Ironstone's partnership with Ubisoft ensures that the game will receive optimal sales, marketing and distribution support when the first titles come to market in Q1 2007.

"Top Trumps has wonderful brand heritage and is a mainstay in the toy sector," said Rob Cooper, UK managing director at Ubisoft. "We're delighted to team up with Ironstone on this range and are looking-forward to strong sales".

Paul Gouge, managing director at Ironstone, also expressed optimism regarding the partnership's positive effects on Top Trumps sales. "Ubisoft are a major success story in the video game market and their track record and experience in this sector are key to maximizing the success of our Top Trumps licensed video games. We're delighted to partner with them for this key launch."

UbisoftAdvertising: the art of making  the consumer who you are, what you stand for, and making sure you're where consumers are most likely to be at. And for studio Ubisoft, it means going the way of the net. In a recent podcast at Games Central, Ubisoft UK managing director Rob Cooper just announced that the company's now making plans for more online-based marketing.

The announcement was made in light of the growing popularity of online gaming sites, and Cooper further explains the speed at which consumers could pick up info on a net-based advertisement, as compared to waiting for monthly issues of printed magazines.

"Gamers like to read it when they want to read it, rather than actually sit for a certain time or read when a magazine comes out," Cooper said. "Certainly, if I'm looking on the Internet, I've tended to look at things because it's instant. Rather than wait for something to read it, I can read it there and then, which to me is much more important."

While we welcome the move of seeing more of this company in cyberspace, it does scare the begeezus of us to think that these are the same guys who've been blasting us with video trailers of these demented carrot-eating critters...does this mean they'll be haunting us with their can't-do-anything-right cuteness on the web as well? Hoo-boy....where's my 12-gauge?
