reversiGlobal distributor of mobile Java games, Selatra, has announced that a new FlashLite catalogue is now available, promising to bring your PC's power to your mobile phones.

The FlashLite catalogue was launched at the MobilShow 2006 in Budapest, Hungary. Leading the line of titles are Meteors - a shoot-em-up space game - and Reversi, more popularly known as the classic Othello. There will be more to follow for the range for 2007. In fact, as early as now, the company is already working with JR Visuals to bring more titles by next year.

Says Sean Cronin, CEO of Selatra,

The games are aimed at the non-core gamer, simple to play, yet hard to put away. We believe one thumb and casual gaming will become increasingly popular with consumers who want to take their PC console experience to the mobile and play the flash games they love on the go. We see market growing along non-traditional gamer lines and are extending this genre in our global catalogue.

All games are available on GSM and 3G Networks. You can check out Selatra's full range of games on their website. Just click on the Read link to get there.

Reality Game v0.2 - Image 1Reality Game v0.2 - Image 2

Some homebrew games catch your attention at first, but then after a while start to get annoying. We know only of two ways on how to get around that boredom factor and they involve either retro games or a new idea. This updated game from JimmyL offers a brand new idea, which is quite fun. As we stated when the first version was released, there are no rules in the game, only a table, a deck of cards, and your opponents. You can move the cards wherever you want and only you can decide what game you're playing. Whether it be solitaire, poker, or a friendly game of rummy, The Reality Game v0.2 lets you come up with exactly what you wish to do.

It features online play so that you can meet strangers and play a game. In version 0.2 of this excellent program, JimmyL has added a small scribble chat system so that you can actually talk to your opponent on your DS. Here's a list of what you can find in The Reality Game v0.2:
  • A scribble pad to chat to other players
  • Grid words - a crossword style game
  • Added Freecell, klondike, Reversi, and Chess pieces to the original 'deck of cards' list.
  • Added a game selection menu
Nobody can say that this game is rubbish because you make the game yourself! It's such a great idea and I hope that people will develop this into further applications for PC, PSP, and any other format which could play it. Just remember, online play with more than two people has not been tested yet, so it may not work correctly. Have fun!

Here's another game from developer Deniska. This is a PSP adoptation of an Othello/Reversi clone from Jakub Drnec. In this version of the game, you can also put in a music of your choice just by simply renaming the music file to song1.xxx, then dropping it into the music folder inside the program.

There are three difficulty level settings for AI and there is also a modable design so you can create your own skins.

INSTALLATION
----------
1.5 users: copy contents of 1.5 folder to ms:/PSP/GAME
1.0 use EBOOT.PBP from 1.0 folder with data files from 1.5 folder
2.0 Please let me know if either version works with the latest eboot loader for 2.0 firmware

CONTROLS
------
[X] MENU SELECT/MOVE
[SELECT] EXIT GAME
[D-PAD] MOVE CURSOR

Faithful to the Othello version, you need to trap the opponents pieces (in this case planets) between two of yours. Trapped planets instantly become yours. When both you and your opponent cannot play another piece, or if the board is filled, the game is over. The one with the most pieces win. Have a go at it by clicking the download link below.

psp reverzi

Deniska shows off the screenshot of his latest PSP porting project, the Reverzi - a clone of the Othello (also known as Reversi). The board game was invented around 1880 by two Englishmen, Lewis Waterman and John W. Mollett. It became quite a sensation at the end of the 19th century in England. However, the modern set of rules originated in Japan in the 1970s where it was known as Othello. In the Othello version, the goal is to trap one or more opponents' pieces between two of your pieces. Trapped pieces then become your pieces. When both you and your opponent cannot play another piece, or if the board is filled, the game is over. The one with the most pieces win. It's a strategy game than can quickly turn a newcomer into an addict.
In addition to the standard gameplay, Deniska's PSP adaptation will feature the following:
No word yet on when PSP Reverzi will be released but as soon as we get the word, it will go right up here on QJ. Keep checking this site for that and more PSP homebrews to come.
