SNTP ClientComputer clocks are infamous for drifting. One day you think you're all in synch (no direct relation to the boyband), but what you don't know is that you can easily drift seconds per day, resulting to errors over time.

It may sound severe, but think about this. Say, you're using your Nintendo DS or DS Lite as an alarm clock, however, because you've let the seconds continue on drifting, you got late for a very important appointment.

Fortunately, MoonShell and ReinMoon.">Infantile Paralysiser, creator of MoonShell, has come up with an SNTP Client that would keep you in synch (again no relation to the boyband) with the rest of the computing world. Just a little background for those not so familiar with what SNTP (Simple Network Time Protocol) is, it's a protocol for synchronizing the clocks of computer systems over packet-switched, variable-latency data networks.

The only reason to be late now is if you stayed up all night playing Nintendogs.

MoonShell SkinJapanese dev MoonShell and ReinMoon.">Infantile Paralysiser is sending his "konnichiwa" shout-outs with the latest MoonShell update. You might recall that a few days ago he released v1.4 beta 8 for his nifty multimedia app for the DS. Just how cool is it? Well, it can play DVM videofiles and MP3/NSF soundfiles. Also, you could use it to view your Jpeg/BMP/PNG pictures as well as your TXT files.

Anyway, he's got another treat for all NDS users out there, with the release of MoonShell v1.4. As it is not in beta stage anymore, users could expect lots of bug fixes and a cartloads of improvement in this version. Want to know exactly how different this is from the other ones? Check out the changelog below. It's lifted from the zip file itself, but if you could come up with a better translation, that would be greatly appreciated.

MoonShell v1.4 b8Yep, you read the title right. Japanese dev MoonShell and ReinMoon.">Infantile Paralysiser is at it again, with his latest updates on MoonShell.

What? You don't know what MoonShell is? Let's see, here's a quick rundown of what this DS homebrew app can do: it could play DVM videofiles, MP3/NSF soundfiles, even Jpeg/BMP/PNG and TXT files to boot. Nifty,eh?

But what's probably more interesting is that version 1.4 beta 7 was only updated two days ago. According to changes, the modifications made are as follow:
  • MOD/MIDI/SPC/NSF/GBS plugin: Change sampling rate to 32768Hz. The over sampling was invalidated.
  • MIDI plugin: Linear interpolation when 16bitPCM sound font is used.
  • SPC plugin: The LPF characteristic was corrected.
  • Interpolation item was added to [ImagePlugin] section of global.ini. for the supplementation with the expansion reduction.
  • The bug that had failed in automatic detection of the enhancing memory built into M3CF/SD was corrected.
But the fun doesn't stop there. Infantile Paralysiser made the DPG1 format support a higher frame rate, thus giving birth to MoonShell v1.4 beta 8.  Wanna check it out? Just click on the link below to download the zip file.

ReinMoonInfantile Paralysiser presents us today with yet another version of his version of SaTa's Rein (back-up manager), ReinMoon. Supporting Supercard CF/SD and M3 CF/SD, this program allows DS users to back up NDS game save files.

As has been established on the previous versions, the ReinMoon developer does not speak English and if you head over to his website, you'll find out that it's in Japanese making it hard to understand the changelog posted. So we have to make do with this Babelfish translation:
  • Savename.txt was renewed to 2006/07/16 editions.
  • The finger pointing conversational register of nintendogs/ traveling/you abandoned that it decides individually from the saving data of the style book.
Installation for this app is as follows:

1. Extract the downloaded folder
2. Run the given .exe file (Windows Only)
3. Select the output directory.
4. After you finish running the program, navigate to your output directory. Make sure you have a ReinMoon folder and the required .nds file.
5. Just copy over the ReinMoon folder to the root of your memory stick and copy the NDS file that you need.
6. To backup your save - Open the application on your NDS and go to the output directory (anywhere you want). Then Hit Start+Select, then Start again.

ReinMoonInfantile Paralyzer has just finished updating his save game manager homebrew ReinMoon to 0.3 Beta. Reinmoon, a version of SaTa's Rein, basically equips the player the option to back up his/her NDS game save file. This program supports Supercard CF/SD and M3 CF/SD. Here's what new in this version:
  • Corrected a bug in the game ID search function.
  • Already have reached the point where it can write using the FAT driver a little.
  • Savename.txt was updated to 2006/06/23 edition.
As for installation, just follow these easy steps:

   1. Download and extract the contents of the zip file (link below).
   2. Run the provided .exe file (Windows Only).
   3. Select the output directory.
   4. When you have the program running, navigate to your output directory. Make sure you have a ReinMoon folder and the required .nds file.
   5. Now just copy over the ReinMoon folder to the root of your memory stick and copy the NDS file that you need the way you usually do.
   6. To back up your save - Open the application on your NDS and go to the output directory (anywhere you want). Then Hit Start+Select, then Start again.

Infantile Paralyzer may not be very fluent in English but judging from the update and the short span of time it was produced, I'm pretty sure he's still working on improving this 'brew. Any advice, encouragement, and constructive criticism will be appreciated.
