Fanatec delivers to gamers the Porsche 911 Turbo S steering wheel controller for the PC and Sony PS3 - Image 1

While a good number of steering wheel controllers have already been made for various consoles, nothing quite says style like this controller. Fantec, a German company responsible for making advanced gameware products, has designed a sleek steering wheel controller patterned from the Porsche 911 Turbo S's steering wheel for the Sony PlayStation 3 and the PC.

This leather steering wheel comes with the standard wireless USB features found in other steering wheel controllers. In addition, it actually sports force feedback controls which was initially unavailable for many PS3 games in particular.

Considering both the company's and the design's German origins, it wasn't very hard taking care of any licensing issues for the product. In any case, even if you can't get the actual car, you can satisfy yourself with this simulated feel of riding your very own Porsche in your favorite racing game on either platform.

Here's a complete list of all the features the Porsche 911 Turbo S steering wheel will be sporting:
  • Original Porsche 911 Turbo S steering wheel design
  • Licensed by Porsche Lizenz- und Handelsgesellschaft mbH
  • Authentic metal Porsche logo on wheel
  • Hand stitched leather wheel manufactured according to Porsche quality standards
  • Compatible with PC and Playstation 3 (all games which support ForceFeedback wheels)
  • 6+1 Speed H-pattern gear stick with realistic shifting feel
  • Additional exchangeable sequential gear stick included
  • Wireless pedals with + 100 hours battery life time (low battery warning on display and optional power supply cable for simulators)
You can check out the complete listing of features the Porsche 911 Turbo S wheel has right after the jump!

Mad Tracks - Image 1

The PC-original Mad Tracks is getting the Xbox Live Arcade treatment and there seems to be a lot of effort coming from D3 Publisher and the development team. The word is that there's going to be a lot of DLC for this XBLA title coming in the form of 17 Gamerpics which will come in three sets of five. Two of them will be free at the time of purchase.

New content will be made available after a month, which will also come in the form of Gamerpics and a theme pack. Pricing ranges from 100 to 150 Microsoft Points, depending on which goodies you get. Speaking of goodies, here are 12 screens of car models that you'll be able to drive in the game.

If you didn't catch Mad Tracks the first time it hits, don't expect realism to the level of Gran Turismo. In fact, this game doesn't even want to come anywhere close to that. It's an RC car simulator that's all about speed, customization, and reflexes. It gives us the lighter side of blazing through tracks, and we're glad it's getting a second spin on the Xbox 360.

model plane - Image 1If you're a collector and you have  model planes 4153 and 4161, you might end up seeing your RC plane burn up in mid-air and crash in a blaze of glory.

Okay, maybe that's not so glorious, but the good news is it will happen less now as the manufacturers along with distributors Wal-Mart and Radio Shack are ordering a recall of 66,000 of the units.

To date, nine separate reports of these mishaps have been received and one injury was noted. Apparently, the rechargeable Lithium battery used to power the craft has some ion issues similar to laptop batteries. The results are sometimes explosive and always scary.

If you own one of these planes, immediately stop using them and call 800-576-5811, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (MT), from Monday to Friday. Estes-Cox will be happy to replace your model with a new and hopefully less explosive model.

Move over, Roomba, there's a new toy in town sweeping off dirt and dust from hardwood floors. Enter the Lamborghini Gallardo RC floor sweeper. Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories has created a handy household helper using a US$ 15 radio-controlled car, an electrostatic dust mop, and a blank printed circuit board.

The Evil Mad Scientist detailed the steps on his website. What's really great about this nifty Roomba-replacement (sort of) is that it's quite easy to build. You just got to figure out how to attach the dust mop to the RC without breaking it. The Lamborghini happens to be the perfect car for this project as it has a little ledge with screw hole where a little plank can be attached to hold the dust mop. If you're planning to create one yourself, you can use other car types, a 4WD even.

While a Lamborghini and a dust mop don't quite look good together, they do a good job of cleaning up the dust on the floor. Watch the Lamborghini Gallardo sweeper in action!
