PSPirates

Yeah, we were wondering about that quirky little detail. Apparently the previous version of PSPirates had a little bug in it. Good thing the PSPMex team was able to squash it out fast. They've released an update to their homebrew game, and as coder Mexicansnake says, it's pretty much the same version as the last, but now with the bug is fixed.

In PSPirates v5c, you can now access the awards that you get in the game and view them in the "Gallery" section. The previous release somehow wasn't able to show the unlockables, and now, it sort of works like a save state. That's how the they got around into tweaking it. Mexicansnake stresses that this is "just a bug fix release," but see, it's the type of little bug that when fixed makes the whole game that much better.

As for future releases of this insanely fun button-masher of a game, the team is planning to create a new story mode, complete with the ability to sail your ship through areas of a new map, a treasure chart mode, night mode, more graphics, sounds, and animations.

PSPirates v4

Merry Christmas, ye scallywags! Thought ye be gettin' by the holidays without another update by the PSPMex team? Anchors away and get ye dirty hands on the deck! Time for some button mashing! Team leader Mexicansnake just released PSPirates v4 beta over at our forums. Aside from correcting some code, they've also added two new game modes, new secrets (hmmm...), and a new screen at the credits menu. To access the new game modes, in the game selector menu:
  • Select and down to play the new Sink Mode.
  • Start and down to play the new Madness Mode.
The main goal of Sink Mode is to throw rocks until your enemy's ship sinks. You can dodge him to make him lose stability and just press triangle to recover stability. As for Madness Mode, all you need to do is shoot as fast you can, avoiding to hit your pals. They might seem pretty simple, but they get complicated real fast with all the button-mashing.

On behalf of the rest of the team - Rikardo_92 (gallery coder), Deanaw22 (artist), Xploren (artist) - Mexicansnake is taking your suggestions for future versions. He's promising more game modes, animations, and room for improvement.

Note: If you're looking for the usual download link, try again later. We're still working on downloading the file but the site just won't cooperate for now. Dont' worry, you can still grab the download by going to our forums as linked below!

PSPshootouts

Mexicansnake and the PSPMex development team are proud to announce the release of PSPshootouts v0.3 today. PSPShootouts is a football (or soccer) penalty shootout game coded in LUA and is currently available for both PSP firmware versions 1.5 and 1.0/eloader.

This game has been enjoyed by many, mainly because it came around during the build up to the World Cup, and has that X Factor to make it a game you can play over and over again. It's always fun to beat your mates at if you're not so good at the real game! Here's the list of new features since PSPshootouts v0.2b:

  • New graphics
  • More Animations
  • Shoot power bar
  • More extras

I think Mexicansnake is teasing us with the feature list. The only way to find out the other extras is to download the game and play it yourself! Think this is it for PSPshootouts? Think again - The PSPMex development team have much more planned for this game, including:

  • Analog pad support
  • More players
  • Secret modes
  • More animation
  • Better sounds and maybe multiplayer

WiFi multiplayer would be amazing on this game, via Ad-Hoc or Infrastructure mode like Sonic Battle Arena. The downloads come packaged in a standalone eboot form, so Lua Player is not required.
