PSP Developer pspballer07 dropped by the QJ.Net Forums earlier to announce the release of RPG Paradise v0.05. For those asking, RPG Paradise is the author's ongoing homebrew game project, with this latest release now featuring a battle system and a first enemy. As for the rest of the details:
  • Added battle system (even though it still needs more work)
  • Smoothed the walking of the character so its not so choppy. (I took off some delay and took away amount of steps)
  • various bugs fixed
  • Added character 'Master' to fight.
Guys interested in getting more info - or perhaps lending the developer a hand - are invited to head over to pspballer07's thread over at the QJ.Net Forums. That's all for the moment - enjoy the download!

Barely a few days after pspsballer07 released RPG Paradise v0.02 for the community's consumption, the developer has just announced another update via the QJ.Net Forums. This latest version of the RPG Paradise homebrew game carries these new features:
  • All data except maps are stored in one file called data.pk3. I used the quake II pack file format for this.
  • Added intro and menu
As a further note, pspballer07 is letting the guys know that graphics and sounds people are needed to help further develop the app - anybody who wants to help out are invited to visit pspballer07's thread at the QJ.Net Forum. Enjoy the download and make sure to thank the developer for the effort.

RPG Paradise v0.02 screenshot - Image 1

PSP homebrew developer pspballer07 dropped by the QJ.Net Forums earlier to announce the release of a new game for the community's enjoyment, titled RPG Paradise v0.02. As its named implies, it's an RPG game. It has had several tweaks since its earlier release (version 0.01), including these bug fixes:
  • Fixed Being able to cross diagonal
  • Stopped the message from going away when you hold X
  • It uses map loading from files so now you can just edit the beginning.map
Just be careful with this game upon download - PSPJunkie_ over at this app's forum thread states that it crashed when it was run under iRShell. We tested it ourselves and found that the game appears to work fine under custom firmware 3.40 OE.

Be sure to drop by pspballer07's thread over at the QJ.Net Forums for extra details - all the more that RPG Paradise lacks a readme. Enjoy the download, and make sure to visit the author's other works, such as the Icon Action Replacer, and PSP C++ IDE.

PSP C++ IDE v1.6, with Screen Designer - Image 1 PSP homebrew coder and QJ.Net Forum resident pspballer07 has apparently been busy for the past few days, as another update for the PSP C++ IDE application is released. For the non-coders wondering what this homebrew does, it's described as a PC-based Development Environment for coding in C++ for the PSP.

Version 1.6 (this version) carries a new Screen Designer feature - see the screenshot to the right for reference. One important note the author mentions regarding this is that "There is a glitch when adding text in the Screen Designer. Long sentences won't show all of it on the Screen Designer but it will show all of it on the PSP!"

As for the rest of the changes from version 1.5:
  • Tab indents now work. (So you don't have to space all your indents)
  • Added "Insert->Screen Designer"! Cool feature and make sure you read the help to learn to use it.
  • Added "Tools->Copy Images from Screen Designer" so you can copy the images you used with screen designer to your PSP.
  • Added more in help menu
  • Added "Goto->Line" to make up for the lack of line numbering.
  • New Template Added to be used with Screen Designer! "Graphics Template"
One future update the author plans to include is support for PSPLink (aka PSPHost). Guys looking for further details for PSP IDE C++ v1.6 may want to visit pspballer07's release thread over at the Qj.Net Forums. Make sure to read the README file in the bundle for other important details. Also make sure to have the proper .NET framework installed. With that said, enjoy the download!

PSP C++ IDE v1.0 - Image 1PSP C++ IDE v1.0 - Image 2

To those of you who want to learn or are trying to learn C++, this next one is going to be a big help. Homebrew coder and QJ.Net Forums member pspballer07 dropped by today and released PSP C++ IDE v1.0. The application, for those who missed our last report, is basically a PC-based Development Environment designed to help make coding in C++ easier.

Just like most PC-based PlayStation Portable (PSP) homebrew applications, C++ IDE requires Microsoft .Net Framework 3.0 to work properly. Anyway, that wouldn't be a problem as we've also provided that file below. Here are the many changes and improvements implemented by pspballer07 for this release:
  • Editor Options in the Tools Menu now works
  • Added Save All Feature
  • New Project now creates a PSPFOLDER.path which allows you to copy your compiled EBOOT to the PSP with the click of button.
  • The following tools in the Tool Menu has been added:
    • "Editor Options" now works
    • "Cygwin Path" to choose your cygwin.bat for easy opening.
    • "Show Path" to see the path you set for cygwin.bat
    • "Compile" ...it opens your cygwin.bat and a window pops up telling you what to type into the bash to compile it.
    • "Copy Project EBOOT.PBP to PSP" to copy your EBOOT.PBP to your PSP with ease.
  • You have to set the path of the folder in your PSP for the EBOOT.PBP to copy through your PSPFOLDER.path but make sure you keep the backslash at the end.

PSP - Image 1And so the XMB hacking continues. pspballer07 has just released yet another update to his homebrew app IAR (Icon Action Replacer), this time bumping it up to v1.5.

If the previous version saw the addition of Matiaz's PRX Rebooter in custom actions and Team280's PRX Homebrew Launcher, this version gets rid of all the crashing and freezing that most users have reported in pspballer07's earlier releases. And of course, there are also additional custom actions and icons to replace

Changelog
:
  • added "do nothing" in custom actions.
  • added a battery check to make sure you have enough battery power or the cord plugged in.
  • added Internet Browser Icon to selection of icons to replace.
  • crashing or freezing bugs are now rare, depending on what you replace.
If you don't know how to go about this whole thing, it's best you check out the readme file included in the download, wouldn't wanna brick your PSP now, would ya?

PSP - Image 1As most of you guys probably noticed, XMB hacking is all the rage right now -- thus the downpour of all these homebrew apps that tweak and tinker with XMB properties.

But even though we already have tons of such apps in our arsenal, we're gonna bring you one more just so you'd have a wide range of stuff to choose from. Yesterday we brought you Icon Action Replacer v0.5 (a.k.a. IAR) and now, pspballer07 is back to bring us a bumped up version, v1.1.

Changelog:
  • added custom action when you pick an action to take ones place.
  • added Team280's PRX Homebrew Launcher in custom actions.
  • added MaTiAz's PRX Rebooter in custom actions.
  • added ability to exit with the X button after replacing or restoring files instead of the manual restart.
  • added Camera Icon and Certificate Utility to selection of icons to replace or take its place.
  • fixed bug so now you can exchange icons without messing things up.
This is the part where we tell you to check out the readme file, and later on is the part where you do exactly just that. Yes? Yes. If you got that, good. Go on and download now. Enjoy!

PSP Icons - Image 1First off, a warning: we're about to dish you an application that writes into flash0 so be very careful installing it - there's always a chance of bricking your PSP.

Now that we got that out of the way, let's get to introducing you guys to the latest XMB hack in town: pspballer07's Icon Action Replacer, a.k.a. IAR. As the name suggests, this application replaces an icon's actions with another icon's action. Tested on a 3.03 OE-C, IAR v0.5 may also "work with 3.10 OE-A and 3.02 OE and 3.03 OE".

Know, though, that this app is no way near perfect. pspballer07 lists its known bugs:
  • When replacing the Network update with the photo, you have to press X twice when you click on your actual Update Icon in the XMB.
  • When replacing the Network update with the video settings, you will get the USB connection on with the Video settings when you click on your actual Update Icon in the XMB too. I don't know why....
  • Can't exchange actions, its going to be fixed in a future version.
  • Sometimes crashes when selecting icon in XMB.
Now you probably know this already, but we'll remind you just the same: make sure you browse the ReadMe file before installing IAR.
