PSP-FTPD v0.4.0 - host an FTP server on your PSP - Image 1Now how about that? An FTP server that fits into your back pocket. Homebrew developer Zx-81 tossed an update our way for PSP-FTPD that hikes up the compatibility bar for open firmwares in the 3.xx range (3.xx OEs). Like the past revisions of PSP-FTPD, version 0.4.0 will allow users to utilize their PlayStation Portable's WiFi access to transfer files from the PSP to another network node (e.g., TFTP server) and vice versa.

For optimal results with PSP-FTPD, Zx-81 recommends FileZilla for Windows users and gFTP for Linux users. And since the release of version 0.3.7, Zx-81 has made the following improvements (taken from the readme file):

Version 0.4.0
  • Compatible with fw3x-0E
Version 0.3.8
  • Add battery status
  • Add memory stick free space status
  • Display FTP commands received by clients
The homebrew developer has bundled the source code together with the homebrew application's release, and he advises that users browse through the included documentation for usage instructions.

PSP - Image 1PSP homebrew dev Cpasjuste, who also gave us 2.71 SE-B VSH Overclocking module, has released a port of PSP-FTPD originally created by PSPKrazy, picked up by Zx-81 which he modded to work as module under the 3.03 VSH. It's called VSH FTPD Module 1 for DA 3.03 FW. It's an FTP server that will run under the VSH when launched with the updater icon from the PSP menu.

How to install and use:
  • Copy the content of the MS_ROOT folder at the root of the memory stick
  • Launch Vsh_Ftpd_Flasher under the game menu of the PSP
  • Press Circle to replace the current update_plugin.prx module with the FTPD one
  • Select the Updater icon under the PSP menu (VSH) to launch the ftpd server
  • Connect to your PSP with your favorite FTP client as anonymous on port 21 (For now there are no info printed on the screen, so you have to either set a static IP or know/find your dynamic IP yourself)
  • If you send homebrews via FTP, you should enter in the game saves menu, for example, then comeback under the game menu to update the list
Cpajuste says it's got a few bugs such as when the module is launched, it is impossible to enter the video menu from the VSH. The module is flashed to flash0:/vsh/nodule/update_plugin.prx, replacing the current one. By selecting the update icon under the PSP menu, the FTPD server will be launched in anonymous mode. Browsing PSP menu and launching homebrew while the FTPD is running should not cause problems. He also says the source code will be released soon.

Please refer to the readme file before you use this application. Or in the words of Cpajuste: THE MODULE WILL BE FLASHED TO YOUR PSP. WHILE THIS HAS BEEN TESTED AND SHOULD BE SAFE, THIS IS CAN BRICK YOUR PSP. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

pspftpdZx-81 has released yet another build of the one-and only PSP-FTPD FTP program for your PSP today. This FTP client allows you to access your server (i.e. Computer) through FTP commands whenever you want, wherever you want using just your 1.5 PSP, PSP-FTPD on your PSP, a PC FTP client and a WiFi connection. This  allows you to send and retrieve files or complete directories to and from your PSP without any cables! Zx-81 recommends Filezilla or FireFTP as your FTP client of choice for the PC.

Here's whats new in this version:
  • Added battery status
  • Added memory stick free space status
  • Displays FTP commands received from clients
This version only works with firmware 1.5, with the source code included in the download, so any 2.0-2.6 users out there should download PSP-FTPD v0.3.5 which can be found here. Why go through the hassle of using your USB cable when you can use this!

PSP-FTPDHow about a second helping of a Zx-81-made program today? I knew you wouldn't say no. Zx has released an update for his FTP server application for the PSP, PSP-FTPD, today updating it to version 0.3.7. PSP FTPD uses the PSP's WiFi connection in order to to transfer files from your PC to your PSP through a PC FTP application.

Zx-81 recommends FileZilla for Windows users, and gFtp for Linux users. Two versions have actually been made recently since we last reported on PSP-FTPD, so here are the changelogs:

v0.3.6:
  • Fixed the bug with DHCP on FW 1.5
v0.3.7:
  • Fixed the bug that appears when you delete a network access point entry in the network settings (then no more wifi connections are displayed in the menu ...)
  • UMDs can now be read!
This version only works with firmware 1.5, with the source code included in the download, so any 2.0-2.6 users out there should download PSP-FTPD v0.3.5 which can be found here.
