Developer CrazyC recently updated the PSP-based DOS emulator DosBox PSP, giving version 03/08/08 an upgrade to its binary code to fix the various bugs while running it under the 3.xx kernel. Find out more about the latest changes since our previous coverage in our full article after the jump.

Homebrew developer J.F. recently rolled out the latest version of the Mac homebrew emulator for the PlayStation Portable, Basilisk II. Despite the official 1.1.0 release of J.F.'s Basilisk II PSP Port, the Mac emulator for the PlayStation Portable is still getting continuous test releases on the ps2dev forums. If you want to see what new improvements homebrew developer J.F. has cooked up for the Mac homebrew emulator for the PlayStation Portable, Basilisk II, then you'll be glad to know that the latest version is now available for download. Clocked as the 19th test release, the new version of Basilisk II includes some complicated changes made to the mapping input. More details in our full article.

The latest test release of the PlayStation Portable-based Mac Emulator, Basilisk II, is finally here. Homebrew developer J.F. recently announced the new build on the ps2dev.org forums and stated that test release 18 finally addresses the horrible slow downs the emulator has been experiencing over the past versions. It's been a short while since author CrazyC brought the DOS emulator homebrew application to updated status, and so this new upgrade is more than welcome. After all, the premier version of DOSBox - the open-source Windows and Linux revisions - are not even completely perfected yet. The Wii homebrew scene is starting to get fired up, and now we have Ballion from homebrew developer mitglied, a game based on Crillion, a vintage game for the Commodore 64. Also created for the PS2, Ballion was made using the ps2dev toolchain. The game may look a bit simple, but it's definitely a move forward for the Wii homebrew development.

Homebrew developer CrazyC has updated his old-school DOS emulator for the PSP with the latest version of DOSBox version 0.71 Build 29.01.2008. Updates in the newest build of the app include fixes to the bugs found in the previous version of DOSBox, as well as adding more memory allocation to the app's complementary conf file. We recently posted an article reporting the release of Cpasjuste's Custom Firmware Extender 1.4. Our report showed off the new video capturing feature of the said PSP homebrew. Now we bring you another coverage this time dealing with the actual release of the program to the public.

In case you missed our previous coverage, this software allows users to capture screenshots, record in-game videos, start and stop an ftpd server from the PSP menu, reset the PSP with a button while under the VSH, and more. Here are the other things that this program can do:

• Power off the PSP with a button while under the VSH (PSP Menu) or in-game (UMD/ISO).
• Change the speed of the PSP CPU/FSB while under the VSH (PSP Menu) or in-game (UMD/ISO).
• Start and stop Usb Mass Storage under the VSH (PSP Menu) while browsing.
• Set a default CPU/BUS speed at startup.
• Set Usb Mass Storage at startup.
• Configure your buttons mapping (combo button + your selected button).
• Enable brightness button to go to the max level

If you're using an older release and are thinking to upgrade, here's the changelog for the program:

• Tested on M33 52-4 custom firmware.
• Fixed some bugs and probably added some.
• Capture folder for screenshots can now be set in the config file.
• Use the code from remotejoy by TyRaNiD @ ps2dev.org to record some in-game videos. All remotejoy functions are still available.

So go download this program and try it out. Be sure to go over the Read Me document included with the compressed file. It has instructions on installation, a bug report, and making video captures.
