Mac users would be delighted to know that Google has just updated their services to accomodate Mac users out there, and all this after hiring a Mac Engineering team. In fact there is even a customized version of the Google website that caters to Mac-lovers (check out the footer in the screenie we got). The Mac-fied Google site for Mac users now sports several downloadable features which we think are pretty cool. One of these is the Google Notifier which provides easier access to your mail which is also customizable according to user's preferences. The Google Notifier also provides a Google Calendar that lets one keep track of important dates. Another downloadable item is the Picasa Web Albums. This handy application lets you upload your photos in several ways which includes directly using iPhoto, or using a drag-and-drop system from a standalone application. To be able to enjoy this feature, just sign up for a Picasa Web Albums account. Other downloadable software tailor-made for Mac users are Google Toolbar, Google Earth, Google SketchUp and Google Widgets. |

Picasa user yonbeastie has an image gallery up of his significant other, Bri, painting him some video game art. It's an image of Mario doing what the famous Nintendo character does best. There's been much discussion before about how video games have integrated itself so much into the culture that it's starting to reflect in our art. There also been discussion that video games are in themselves forms of art. I think the images below can serve as proof that gaming is indeed already part of our culture. Read the full article to see the how the piece was made. |

DSC00617.JPGThis, more or less, is how our personal photo files are usually saved in our computers. Point is, it's all letters-numbers-dot-JPEG. It's not a problem really...if you're not taking and saving hundreds of them! But truth is, we all love pictures. And not all of us have time to rename and organize our files. Google understands. That's why they acquired a company that is best known for its deep technology and expertise when it comes to automatically extracting information from a photo: Neven Vision. According to Picasa's Project Manager Adrian Graham, there are no specifics yet to be shared as of the moment. But this much he can tell us, "We've been working to make Picasa better when it comes to searching for your own photos—to make finding them be as easy as finding stuff on the web. Luckily we've found some people who share this goal, and are excited that the Neven Vision team is now part of Google." |
