Flux - Image 1Most gamers expect to see all types and models of race-worthy automobiles in their racing games, and what's better than having all of the existing racers and rally cars to date? Including prototype and concept cars in the game, of course. In the upcoming Project Gotham Racing 4, we'll see the Peugeot International design competition winner, Flux, hit the virtual roads, and it's going to be one sweet ride.

Mihai Panitescu, a student from Romania, won this year's Peugeot design contest with the Flux, a smooth car that looks like a lovechild of a sports car and a time machine (from the future, of course). The ultramodern design makes it even more interesting to use in-game in Bizarre Creation's Project Gotham Racing 4.

There's still no word yet how to get the car in-game, if it's going to be an unlockable car or if it's going to be part of the PGR4's downloadable content. More updates as we get them!

Sega Rally Revo - Image 1 Sega Rally Revo - Image 2

We have introduced two modified cars (Peugeot Super 2000 and Citroen C2 Super 1600) from Sega Rally Revo's growing garage in our previous post, now meet the other members in the modified cars list: Grande Punto Rally S2000 and Toyota Celica VVTi.

The Grande Punto Rally is getting good marks on the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, and is quite competent in tackling various kinds of terrain - it's not strange to see a Grande Punto Rally in Sega Rally Revo sporting huge wheels for a road event, the switch to gravel spec wheels for the next safari event. It's that flexible. With its inherent good specs, there's nothing much on the Grande Punto that needs to be improved (it's still a prototype car), since apart from external changes such as roof mounted spoilers and front and rear bumper re-profiling, everything is fairly unchanged.

And then there's the Toyota Celica VVTi, chosen for its excellent tuning and modifications. The coupe features a fast front wheel drive that works well in road settings. As a bonus for this modified car, there is a special unlockable livery that features a certain Sega icon, probably the same as the livery 3 for the Citroen C2 as mentioned in the previous article.

Sega Rally Revo is up for release on PS3, Xbox 360, PC, PSP, and is also slated as a mobile game title. Do check out this space for more updates!

Sega Rally Revo - Image 1 Sega Rally Revo - Image 2

Sega Rally Revo (PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PSP) is shaping up as one of the better racers across platforms. The IGN blogs featured this week a couple of "modified class" cars in the title. The Peugeot 207 Super 2000 and the Citroen C2 Super 1600 are in the garage, so let's go in there and meet them.

The modified class cars in Sega Rally Revo and those in the real world rally for that matter are similar to the original manufacturer designs for the World Rally Championship except for one major distinction: All Super 2000s use a common control gearbox and drive train. This makes them easier on the pockets to keep running well with the 'thoroughbreds,' but doesn't sacrifice much velocity as speed remains the same in most cases.

The same goes for the Citroen C2, which is often seen in 1600 rallies. It's very reliable and not too pricey to keep running. Sega tells us to keep a sharp eye on the unlock livery 3 as we may spot a popular Sega icon. In any case, enjoy the car models above and get ready to rev up your engines for Sega Rally Revo.

Forza Motorsport 2 - Image 1

It looks like Turn 10's promise of downloadable content for August held true, as word has come to us that it's got free cars for download via Xbox Live, as well as a tournament for Forza Motorsport 2 fans.

The news is that three new Nissan cars and a Peugeot car are now available for download through Xbox Live. These are the 2007 Nissan Altima, 2007 Nissan Sentra SE-R, and 2007 Nissan 350Z. They're available for download on all regions, so as long as you have an Xbox Live connection and a copy of the video game,  Forza Motorsport 2, you're good to go. On the other hand, you can also pick up the famed Peugeot 908 race car for 50 Microsoft Points.

In related news, Xbox and Nissan are celebrating the release of this new DLC by kicking off two different contests. The first is a Nissan Sentra SE-R racing tourney, whose details you can read about below:

The 32 bracket 256 player tournament will kick off on 18th August and take place over the course of seven weeks. It will finish on the 6th October with a championship race live at the L.A. Auto Show. Finalists will compete for a series of prizes including a chance to win a new Nissan!

The second is an in-game customization contest, where players can customize their Nissan Sentra SE-Rs to come up with the coolest paint job. They'll be judged by members of Turn 10 and Nissan, so you better make those paint jobs extra stylish.

Full tournament details, registration and rules can be found at www.xboxlivetournament.com beginning August 10. In the meantime, you might as well start practicing your driving and styling skills.

SEGA Rally - Image 1 SEGA Rally - Image 2

It's all good when game producers adapt a clever scheme to show off their video games like Super Smash Bros. Brawl and its frequently updated official website, for instance, to draw attention from eager fans.

And this is also exactly what the guys behind Sega Rally Revo are doing. Keith Burden, the Lead Car Artist for Sega Rally Revo, set up a blog in IGN to give people a peek on what cars to expect in the much awaited racing video game from Sega for the PlayStation 3, the PC, and the Xbox 360.

In his first blog post, Burden introduces the first class cars to be featured on the game: Subaru Impreza WRX STi, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX, Ford Focus RS, Peugeot 206 WRC, Skoda Fabia, and Citroen Xsara Rallycross.

Burden then gives his thoughts on why the cars were selected for inclusion in the game, and mentions in the blog post that there will be many unlockable cars, car variants, liveries as well as specialist cars. The rest of the cars, he says, will be revealed all in good time. The blog seems to be updated weekly, so it'll be best to check his blog for updates from time to time.

While advertisements and press releases do their job of disseminating information, nothing's better than engaging attention more effectively than offering a first-hand look at the game's progress while it's still being developed.

Project Gotham Racing 4 screenshot - Image 1You've probably seen some of these in various gaming magazines, but finally, the first images from Project Gotham Racing 4 have finally found their way onto the Internet. you can check out the sweet, sweet images right here, courtesy of CVG.

If these images are any indication, gamers should have one hell of a time with the cars in Project Gotham Racing 4. For more on the cars that could possibly make it to Project Gotham Racing 4, check out our previous post on Peugeot's top ten cars for the game. You might also want to check out the winner of the Microsoft/Peugeot car design contest.

Not a lot of details have slipped through Microsoft and Bizarre Creations' web of silence regarding this game, but it has been previously reported that the developers have shifted their design emphasis slightly from previous titles. As to what those changes are, we'll just have to be patient. More than 200 racetracks have been promised for the game, though, along with a wider variety of cars.

Project Gotham Racing 4 on OXm's latest issue - Image 1Craving for some finger-lickin' good update on Bizarre Creations' yet-to-be-released racer Project Gotham Racing 4? Good thing if you're a subscriber of the Official Xbox Magazine (OXM) because PGR4 is going to be its featured video game in its latest issue. If you don't have any subscriptions, you can just get it come April 10.

But to give you a preview, OXM mentioned that PGR4 is hugely promising, a proper sequel with cool new toys. Before this, there's only a few details known about the title. Even its estimated time of arrival is still quite far off, winter of 2007 to be exact. Aside from that, we've only seen just one video trailer and known about a Peugeot-sponsored car model making contest.

We will stop teasing you now and tell you the updates. The following information were taken directly from OXM:
  • Enhanced Weather Simulation: "One of the slickest new features in PGR is its weather. Bizarre's using what it likes to call 'extreme weather' for more than just making the sky gray. Water beads up beautifully on all the gorgeous paintjobs, spray jets out from the tires, and in the in-car view, wipers move and windshields ice up."
  • Enhanced Raceway Environments: "A TV-style intro sets up each event, with a commentator offering wisdom. Choppers buzz overhead, camera crews and video vans are everywhere, and hordes of fans line the track. They'll wear gear with your logo, wave your national flag, and react far more obviously to your performance."
  • Extended Car Selection: "PGR4 will deliver a much broader set of vehicles, ranging from a vintage '63 Corvette Sting Ray and the '54 Maserati 250F to the sleek, ultra-modern Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano.
  • On the tracks: You won't want to miss out on your viewing time with PGR4's tracks, which tally up to 200-plus in 10 locations."
  • On Xbox Live initiatives: "PGR4's cooking up a mysterious new matchmaking system (like Halo 2's)."
  • On in-car view: "Bizarre has two key improvements in the works. You'll now see drivers moving more- feeding the wheel as they zip through turns or pumping their fist after a win. Special effects will also crank up the tension in key moments. You'll get a shake effect at high speeds, and your vision will blur after spending some quality time with a wall."
Hugely promising is nothing but a very accurate description of PGR4. We really can't wait for this title and to compensate, we will be sure to grab that OXM issue. Be sure to get your copy as well, ok?

Flux - Image 1

French car maker Peugeot has finally proclaimed the winner of the concept car making contest. Dubbed Flux, this car will be reproduced in full scale at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show but more importantly, it will be a part of the official car roster of Bizarre Creations' up and coming Project Gotham Racing 4.

According to the owner of the design, his intention was to come up with a vehicle that pleases its occupants in every way. He added that while he was making Flux, versatility and sportiness are the two things in his mind. In case you're still not pleased yourself, here are other details about Flux:
  • The name Flux was inspired by the continuous change and flow of our daily lives during work and play.
  • The shape also represents this flow with transitions through hard and smooth lines, between straight and curved all of which are characteristics of Peugeot.
  • A relatively small car (3500cm long by 1650cm wide), it runs on a slim hydrogen power plant hidden in the back along with the tank mounted under the front bonnet.
  • The hood and side body panels are made from plastic, polyurethane for the seats and aluminium for the mechanical parts.
  • The main components such as the chassis and head protection are metal.
  • Made up of simple body work (basic intersected volumes) the car is easily produced and accessible to everyone but most of all, it's fun to drive.
  • Adding to this, the car is also a gaming hub thanks to the integrated Xbox 360.

PGR 4 - Image 1

After sharing with you Peugeot's top 10 cars for Project Gotham Racing 4, we now have an update of the game straight from Bizarreonline.net, the official Bizarre Creations community. Basically, they gave some info about Geometry Wars, their mobile games, their upcoming XBLA offering Boom Boom Rocket, and of course PGR4.

We'll focus our attention on PGR 4. The update mentions that the Bizarre internal team are pretty familiar with their routine - which means that each of them knows their place and they are getting things done in a "speedy rate". They also divulged that they have seen a couple of excellent technologies make their way into the game. They wouldn't specify what those are...They just wanna entice us.

Aside from that, they clarified that the X06 trailer wasn't a gameplay vid, but it represents what they have planned for the style or locations of the game itself. They mentioned that they "have changed our design emphasis slightly from previous titles though... I think we're going to surprise a few people with PGR4! "

We surely can't wait to be surprised. Hopefully, the next time we feature this game, we have some screens, vids, and a release date to share with you.
