Mirror's Edge could very well be an Halo 3-Assassin's Creed mash-up with its first-person parkour gameplay. However, this same innovation lends itself to concerns on motion sickness for gamers. Read more on the explanation of Electronic Arts' Digital Illusions CE (DICE) studio about this head-spinning issue as well as the lack of greenery. |

Given that free running (the sport, not the game) is a moving art, we thought the guys here would appreciate a gameplay trailer to prepare them for Reef Entertainment's Free Running title when it hits UK PSPs this March 16.
As a point of clarification, free running is a separate style from the similar practice of parkour, as free running uses more elements of tricking in its acrobatics - "Tony Hawk, but without skateboards." Lastly, it was parkour, not free running, that was featured in the Casino Royale movie (although free running creator Sebastien Foucan was in the film). Enjoy the trailer! |

Since time immemorial, battles have been waged between the forces of light and darkness. Such is the eternal struggle between good and evil, angels and demons, and cops and robbers. Wait, cops and robbers? Yes, cops and robbers. New advertising videos for Microsoft's Xbox 360 in Europe will feature a literal game of cops and robbers. The new ad has three robbers in ski masks trying to escape the cops with their hard-earned loot by performing all sorts of stunts as they scale buildings with some insane parkour skills (parkour: urban free running). Upon reaching their getaway car, the game becomes a chase, with the result leading up to a victory by the cops. The catch for the ads is that the entire chase is actually just a game of cops and robbers between friends. Right after the loss, they begin to set up another game. According to Richard Teversham, EMEA Director of Marketing and Platform at Xbox, the ads are supposed to show how we feel when people have fun with their friends. "This campaign really brings out the sociability of Xbox 360," he says, "and taps into the playfulness that we all have in us." Don't worry, non-European readers! We'll upload the ad onto the site when we find one. For now, stay tuned! |

This could probably be one of the craziest MMORPG-related videos we've seen for quite some time. The EverQuest II parkour video shows several in-game characters doing crazy acrobatic jumps across fantastical architecture of Norrath. For those who are not familiar with parkour, Wikipedia explains:
Parkour is a physical discipline of French origin in which participants attempt to pass obstacles in the fastest and most direct manner possible, using skills such as jumping and climbing, or the more specific parkour moves. The obstacles can be anything in one's environment, so parkour is often seen practiced in urban areas because of many suitable public structures that are accessible to most people, such as buildings and rails. I don't know the point of this reference to parkour, but it sure is fun to watch, if only to take your mind off things. |
