The sheer number of versions of Winnydows' XviD4PSP on QJ may make you start to feel dizzy, but we're here to give you another update from one of the best free video converters out there. All you need to know is that as of today, this is the latest version. This converter will convert pretty much any video format into another, whether it be for the PC, PSP or iPod, so it contains all you could want in a 3-in-1 converter.

This application runs on Windows XP SP2 as well as Windows Vista and as with every single previous version of Xvid4PSP, a large changelog accompanies this release Here it is:

QJ reader aDcOoL informed us that the final release for version 4.109 of Winnydows' video-converting app, XviD4PSP, is out. As always, the developer notes that before installing the latest version of the app, you must purge the previous one first. Some parts of this changelog were already seen in his previous version release, but since this is the "final" version, a couple of other stuff have been added and fixed.

Full changelog for XviD4PSP v4.109 final:

• Now possible select audio tracks from MKV, OGM and AVI.
• Added [] symbols warning.
• Thumbnails now create for PMPPlayer Advance too.
• COPY audio stream now work for MKV too.
• Added FLV format output, Sorenson codec only.
• Added unlimited MPG output (any resolution, any framerate, high bitrate).
• For AVI and PMP audio encoding to AAC sound now with NeroAACEnc too.
• Audio bitrate change now more smooth - 8 kbit.
• Fixed lost windows focus after preview player.
• Fixed early exit form AviSynth Wrapper.
• x264 updated to 635.
• Mplayer and Mencoder updated to 22772.
• DGIndex updated to 1.4.9 Beta 17.

For this release, you'll be required to have Windows Vista or Windows XP SP2, Microsoft Framework 3.0, and DirectX Update-Check for you to install it on your PC. The developer reports that the program might not work well with your existing codec packs installed, and he recommends you install ffdshow only.

This is just a quick update to Winnydows' XviD4PSP. The downloadable brings the homebrew media conversion program to v4.109 RC3, and brings the following improvements and changes:

• A few bug fixes
• It's now possible to select MKV, OGM, and AVI audio tracks
• Creates thumbnails for PMPPlayer Advance
• Copy audio stream now works for MKV

Okay, now I still have a few DCOMs to format into PSP-compliant files...Anyhow, we thank Winnydows for this release and hopefully, we'll hear more from this dedicated homebrew developer!

Encode360 is a video encoder and compression utility that allows you to convert video's to Xbox360 and Zune compatible WMV format. This application has recently had an overhaul and as a result now uses a new video engine. In the past, the widely used FFMPEG encoder engine was used which has now been swapped out with MediaInfo.

Dan, the author, was kind enough to give us some of their his change in video encoding engines. "FFMpeg really was just a stop-gap until something better turned up, and I’m glad to say MediaInfo is doing an impressive job on discovering the details of nearly every file format I throw at it. However, there’s no telling what new problems might be introduced as a result. I haven’t had any, but someone else might. I’ll tackle issues as they arise. Just remember, this is a beta."

Fixes

• Arithmetic error in timerPercentComplete_Tick would occur if WME couldn’t determine the source duration
• Default settings for 802.11b in an unconfigured environment were too high
• Numerous cosmetic and logging bugs
