I don't think I've ever seen the Nintendo DSi fall beyond the third
spot in the Japanese hardware sales charts. Until now, that is. But
before you go celebrating that the dual-screened handheld has finally
been humbled, read up first. Yes, the DSi has indeed fallen to 5th
place, in the race, only to be replaced by its cousin, the DSi LL on
top of the charts. Sorry guys, but Nintendo's still got the Japanese
market's attention in this fight. |

Gadgets may be getting smaller and smaller, but Nintendo decided to go
against the flow and came up with the DSi LL. Earlier reports came in
this week, saying that the big guy sold much better than the PSP Go at
launch. A few days later, we get the Media Create sales charts,
confirming that indeed, DSi LL is large and in charge. |

Damn. It seems Nintendo really can do no wrong in Japan when it comes to their DS handhelds. The latest DS iteration, the DSi LL, debuted at the top of Media Create's Japanese hardware charts by selling almost three times the number of units each of the rest of the top five consoles did. |

It's numbers time again! The latest hardware sales figures from Japan's
Media Create has been release, and competition is getting tighter as
the PS3 inches closer and closer to the top, needing only about a
thousand more units before overtaking the long-reigning DSi. |

It's numbers time yet again! Famitsu's come out with their hardware
sales charts, albeit a bit late this week. Still on top: DSi. And
what's this we see inching closer to the top, a mere 4,000 units shy?
It's the PSP with 40,000, just a tad bit below the DSi who has 44,000.
The Xbox 360, meanwhile, edges out over PS2 with just 2,000 more units
sold. |

Despite introducing a more affordable price point for the Xbox 360, Microsoft did not enjoy as big a boom as Sony with the PS3 Slim-and-price-cut combo. Things are looking even more glum for Microsoft in its competitors' home turf, Japan, where word is coming out that the Xbox 360 is already struggling. |
