If Activision's internal estimates are to be believed, then the much-hyped, much-anticipated launch of Modern Warfare 2 for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC was successful as it was planned out to be, selling five million copies on its first day in North America and the UK combined.

Activision is positively raking in the dough in the wake of Modern Warfare 2's release. Biggest entertainment launch of all time? Could be. In the UK alone, the game has already sold more than a million copies in a 24-hour period.

A few months ago, THQ's Brian Farrell claimed that Microsoft's Project Natal will be launching late next year. According to MCV, Farrell's estimation was right on.

This week's edition of MCV reveals that there are two new bundles coming the way of Xbox 360 fans, and these will reportedly involve Star Trek and Transformers 2.

Chris Lewis, the VP of Interactive Entertainment at Microsoft Europe, has done the unexpected: he stood up for his company's machine. No wait, that's totally expected. Details after the jump.

The success stories continue to surface for Sony and the PS3. We already know that sales week-on-week grew 999%, and the Slim has already smashed old Japanese sales records. Adding to those today is MCV UK reporting that the slimmed-down model of the console sold 40,000 units in the United Kingdom in just the first week of release.

Now that the Japanese porn industry has gotten a foot in the PS3's on-demand service door, some other purveyors of visual erotica have expressed interest in joining them. One of these is Vivid Entertainment, widely regarded as the world's largest adult video producer.

If MCV UK is right, then we can all be enlightened as to Microsoft's real plans for the Xbox 360 as early as tomorrow. Expected to be included in the announcement would be the news that they'll be dropping the mid-range Pro SKU from the line, and a price drop for the Elite.

I fully expected Microsoft to follow Sony's PS3 price cut announcement with one of their own for the Xbox 360 Elite. Some rumors about an Elite price drop have been floating around for a while now, but we heard nothing of the sort during Microsoft's GamesCom conference. A new report suggests that it has to do with the current stock of Arcades and Elites out on the market right now.

Is this a sign of things to come? Over in the UK, High Street retailer Asda has reportedly already started discounting their stock of 80GB PS3s. Quite the opposite compared to earlier reports of Xbox 360 Arcades getting a price hike in the region.
