This E3, Silent Hill: Homecoming (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) was confirmed for release on the PC. Now PC gaming fans can use those big specs to generate more intense horror on their turf. Thanks in large part to Konami's Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Sony is licking some serious PlayStation 3 sales chops. However, the overall leadership remains with Kyoto-based Nintendo as their twin juggernauts Wii and DS posted huge stats again. The official reactions of both companies after the jump.

Time for some international pwnage. In a press release, Konami's announced that they'll be holding a Metal Gear Online World Championship 2008 event for this summer. Nice. It's open for pretty much everybody, and if you make it far enough in the tournament, not only do you get a free trip to Japan, you might find yourself smack in the middle of one of the video game industry's hottest annual events, the Tokyo Game Show! To those of you wondering if Konami's Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be joining the same cross-platform bandwagon as Final Fantasy 13, the answer is a solid and resounding "no". Jack Tretton, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA), mentioned that such a thing would be "impossible" for other consoles to achieve, knowing the game's heavy technical demands. Konami Digital's announced that it will be present at this year's upcoming Games Convention event in Leipzig, Germany. The company will be showcasing some of their higher profile titles for this year, including Silent Hill: Homecoming for the PS3 and Xbox 360, and Pro Evolution Soccer 2009. Metal Gear Online is heating up and an expansion has been confirmed to be on the way. Dropping on the 17th of July in Japan is the GENE expansion pack which brings in new characters, maps, game modes, and features.
