PS3 Weekend Warrior - Image 1Good things are happening to the PS3. Sony's got high hopes for it, of course, and it looks like analysts concur, pegging it as the top dog in the September hardware sales charts. The gamers -- the lifeblood of the whole video game industry -- are also in for a treat. There's talk of new games, the impending arrival of Uncharted 2 and the new Ratchet & Clank adventure, and what's this? Resistance 3?

Jack Tretton - Image 1 Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA) president Jack Tretton admitted in a recent interview with Fast Company that they had a hard time in fiscal 2008, but all signs point to a better showing for the PS3 this year. PS3 Weekend Warrior - Image 1Sony execs had a lot to say this week, with their statements running the gamut of emotions from frustration to confidence. The price cut rumor was again resurrected, but that's understandable since we didn't hear a peep at all from Sony about it during E3. We didn't see a lot of big game-related news this week, but there's still meaty stuff nonetheless with updates for Gran Turismo 5 (not a release date, though), The Last Guardian, Uncharted 2 and LittleBigPlanet, just to name a few. Read on for all of these and more in this week's edition of the PS3 Weekend Warrior.

First up is the new PSP Go, which generated a bit of controversy over Sony's decision to slap a US$ 250 price tag on it. We also heard more about the games presented during E3. A new firmware update that "improves system stability" also went live this week, just ahead of another custom firmware release from the PSP homebrew community. Sony at E3 2009 - Image 1Man, Sony took their sweet time at their presentation, didn't they? Two full hours! However. I am not complaining. How could I? Sony definitely did their homework for this year, as compared to the last. Of course am sure many were also left wanting, but hey. You can't please everybody. And although they did get a major bulk of their announcements preemptively leaked, they still did have that shocker that got the nods of most of the attendees, if not all. Rundown and verdict on Sony's E3 2009 Presentation after the jump.
