We'd like to take this moment to honor id Software's boxart artist for Doom, Don Ivan Punchatz. He passed away at the age of 73 last month.

id Software has released a major update to their remake of the ever-popular FPS game Wolfenstein 3D Classic for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The update contains tons of new features and additional contents.

Doom Resurrection's been out and about in the App Store for a couple of months now. However, if you find yourself pining for the good ol' classic version, this here's some great news for  you. John Cormack himself has announced that Doom Classic will be joining Resurrection on the App Store soon.

Wolfenstein's been majorly bugged the past couple of months it's been out on PC. And by major, we mean maHAYjor. The two-month reign of those pesky bugs are over now, though, fortunately, thanks to the new patch released by id Software.

Homebrew coder Rômulo Fernandes has released the initial version of Knowledge, a new multi-platform game engine, which is also compatible with the Nintendo Wii.

Apart from videos, GamesCon 2009 is also full of screenshots. And why not, that's the exact purpose of the event, right? To showcase your wares? That's what Electronic Arts exactly did: showcase their ware with id Software, Rage (PC, PS3, Xbox 360), via screenshots. Check them out in the full article.

"Monster closets" are spawn points that only activate when certain trigger points are reached in a game. This system, while quite surprising and scary the first time but almost always becomes repetitive and very easy to anticipate in subsequent playthroughs, was one of the major criticisms laid against Doom 3. For the upcoming Rage, id Software is making a point of avoiding the monster closet system altogether.

The anonymous Space Marine from the Doom series is ready to kick demon butt once again on Xbox 360s. A new XBLA version of Doom 2 has just recently been spotted on the show floor at QuakeCon.

id Software continues its iPhone gaming push with the release of Wolfenstein RPG. The port has once been spotted in the Japanese App Store and has been the subject of a lot of iPhone gaming talk for quite a long time. Oldschool Wolfenstein fans can now rest easy, one trip down to the App Store is all they'll need to get this baby into their iPhone.

John Carmack has been in the news a lot lately. Most recently, the id Software co-founder shared some of his thoughts on who he thinks will be the first to roll out an eighth-generation console. His bet? Sony will be out of the gate first.
