Just as we promised in last week's Weekend Warrior feature, we kept a close eye on the aftermath of Apple's new releases and found that the Cupertino-based company had nothing but good things going for them this week. As a result, the homebrew community was also optimistic in its efforts to deliver substantial alternatives for iPhone users who are looking for goodies outside of the Apple box. Stalwart Wii homebrew developer waninkoko has done it again, and this time in a major, major way, with the release of a custom IOS installer for the Wii. Demonstrating the power of this installer, waninkoko has also released a Wii DVD Dumper and GenPlus-GX, a Genesis emulator for the Wii that makes use of the custom firmware. Last week brought us news about epic game releases, and possible troubles for the DS homebrew community through the R4. This week isn't that much different, however: just add a few more much-awaited (but some quite unexpected) sequels, and more bad news for the R4. Aside from the rhyming title, TicTacToe version 1.0 is also well-polished - it's got the sounds and appearances down pat, while the visual effects are appropriate, though quite subtle. Homebrew developer bmic says this project was created from scratch, thanks to the well-improved libraries provided by the WiiBrew community. Okay, so maybe the wait for multi-capable video playback on your Wii is taking a lot longer than you could take. Luckily the homebrew community around the Nintendo Wii has enough projects going around to provide enough of a selection for homebrew users out there. For media players, we've seen DragonMedia Player and GeeXboX, but did you know there's something out there for video buffs who don't want to go through Linux? Take for instance, rOn's MPlayerWii.

If you love seeing objects fall, then perhaps you'd like a mixture of Tetris (falling blocks!) and a good physics engine (Chipmunk). What do you get when you combine those two elements together? Developer DragonMinded delivers on one of the promised features for DragonMedia Player. The media player now sports a new seekbar. The author even added in a background image feature. We're really rooting to see more or this app in the future. More details in the full article.

Homebrew puzzle addicts will get a kick out of the latest homebrew game developed by Chris Nordberg for the Apple iPhone. Entitled "Kusari", the game puts speed and cunning to the test as you try and clear out all the counters on the puzzle board as fast as you can.
