When I say there are slim pickings this week, I mean it. The home consoles only get two releases, and there are no new games at all for the Wii and PSP. There's also only one release on PC, but since it's The Sims 3, it's sure to sell a bucketload by its lonesome. The only console not experiencing a game drought this week in the Nintendo DS. There really are no slow release weeks for the DS in terms of quantity, really. Read on for a list of this week's game releases.

I have some bad news for you folks. The much awaited Killzone 2 patch 1.27 has been delayed and will not be coming this week. The patch that contains the much awaited "High Precision" control configuration and tweaked Skirmish mode has been hit with technical issues and is delayed to an unknown date.

This week on the PlayStation Store comes the classic Resident Evil Director's Cut on PSone classics, Sackboy gets more costume packs, and loads of FREE DLC. Big news for all Killzone 2 players as Sony has announced that the much awaited Killzone 2 Patch 1.27 will go live tomorrow. The new patch will feature a new 'High Precision' controller configuration, a tweaked Skirmish Mode for online play , and improved overall game balance.

Guerrilla Games is going retro for the second Killzone 2 map pack. Called "Flash and Thunder", the second map pack will feature a pair of levels from the first Killzone given a bit of polish using Killzone 2 tech.

Suit up, boys and girls. It's time to take on Guerrilla Games' finest in Killzone 2. Well, not right now, but tomorrow when the Killzone 2 Guerrilla Warfare event kicks off on the game's US servers.

Guerrilla Games has detailed the new Killzone 2 patch 1.24 which will be going live tomorrow. This is the biggest one yet, and aside from fixing bugs and exploits it also adds new functionalities like a new search game filter and three new ranks. Killzone 2's lead online game designer, Eric Boltjes, details the stuff included in the patch after the jump.

As we eagerly await the April 30th release of the new downloadable maps for Killzone 2, Steel and Titanium, let's content ourselves for now with two gameplay vids featuring Vekta Cruiser and Wasteland Bullet. And after watching, we can go, "Darn it!" and realize that the release day is still more than half a month away.

Contrary to what a lot of devs have said over the years, it's easier to develop for the Sony PlayStation 3 than the venerable PS2. In addition, the PS3's architecture is even simpler than that found in the Xbox 360 and PC. At least that's what a pair of Guerrilla Games devs said recently.

Christian Allen, an ex-developer for Bungie, remarks in an interview that Killzone 2 - the flagship shooter of the PlayStation 3 - could "totally be done on 360 if Guerrilla wanted to."
