DirectX 11 - the one sure thing you'll want as soon as Windows Seven ships to shelves a few years from now. Revealed back in Gamefest 2008, DirectX 11 turned heads with its venture into multithreaded computing territory and support for using shader processors as additional processing power. Today, however, Microsoft's Kevin Gee detailed what the software engineers at Redmond had planned for the API, and we've compiled a summary at the full story. |

Naughty Dog has done some great work with their action-adventure PlayStation 3 exclusive Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. The game's co-lead designer Richard Lemarchand, however, told ThreeSpeech that we ain't seen nothing yet because what their game gave us was just 30 to 40 percent of the console's total power. It's like a geek's dream come true - two ladies you've always wanted for the price (and mass-energy ratio) of one. Or something like that. While Intel's really busy with Larabee, the Germany-based Advanced Micro Devices decided that they could do with their own version of CPU-GPU technology. Everyone expected this from the beginning: the unison of CPU (AMD) and the GPU (ATI) into a mesmerizing package. How it took this long to come to realization, you won't find out at the full story. Read on for more claims, instead. |

NVIDIA may be sticking to monolithic graphic cards, but AMD sure as hell isn't. In fact you probably were one of hundreds of thousands who guessed that after releasing the sweetly-priced Radeon HD 4870, they'd be back with twins. If you banked money on that, you'd better collect - Guru3D says they've just received the prototype of the top-of-the-line, dual-GPU RV770-spec graphics card that's tied to just one generic name: the ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2. Wipe off the drool, and get more details at the full story. |

Even though the army at Redmond has just started to layer the icing on DirectX 10.1, plans to revamp Microsoft's popular application programming interface (API) to the next major level hasn't been held back. DirectX 11 appears to be Microsoft's answer to the growing use of multi-core machines, as well as NVIDIA's looming CUDA technology. Got to know more? Read more to find out how DX11 aims to leave Windows XP and Xbox 360 gamers back in the Ice Age. |

Bloomfield - or as you would probably have heard from your techy pals: the next CPUs in line for the X58 platform. Somehow, some way, NVIDIA crawled out of its shell and agreed to integrate it's patented SLI technology onto Intel's chipset. It's an alliance that people always anticipated since the merging of AMD and ATI, yet always seemed eluded reality. X48-based motherboards are still CrossFire only, so will the PC enthusiast finally receive optimum CPU performance with state-of-the-art GPU technology in X58? More at the full story. |
