Atari icon - Image 1Atari just announced that CEO David Pierce has left his position in compliance with the company's restructuring plans. No explanations were given, but other board members were also axed in Atari's attempt to revitalize profits. Licensing of the Test Drive franchise has also been handed over to parent company Infogrames, as Atari wants to focus purely on publishing and distribution.

Atari - Image 1While we're all gearing up for some intense Saiyan-brawling action with the upcoming Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 for the Nintendo Wii, it seems that Atari is doing the same. Except this time the publisher is preparing itself for a conflict that could decide if it keeps the rights to one of its most profitable franchises in history.

So, what's the deal? It seems that things, while already rough for Atari, are about to get rougher. After having five members of its board of directors being dismissed by Infogrames, U.S. anime firm FUNimation Entertainment is accusing Atari of breaching the agreements set between the two companies.

Because of this, FUNimation has declared that Atari will no longer be able to make Dragon Ball Z games, citing that the publisher's license to do so has been terminated. Of course, Atari isn't going down without a fight. As of this writing, the publisher still plans on distributing its DBZ games, and is now in talks with FUNimation to try and resolve their differences.

Here's hoping that everything works out in the end - after all, the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi series has always been something to look forward to.

DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and Godzilla: Unleashed come to San Diego Comic Con - Image 1Video games Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and Godzilla: Unleashed are probably two of the more anticipated titles for the Nintendo Wii. Both will be published by Atari and both will be available this coming Christmas season.

Here's a heads up for those who have been religiously following the development of these two titles: Atari announced today that playable demos of DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and Godzilla: Unleashed will be available during the San Diego Comic Con.

The said event will take place from July 26 to 29 at the Convention Center on Harbor Drive. Anyway, the brand new playable demo of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 can be found at the FUNimation Entertainment booth, #4129. On the other hand, the hands-on demo of Godzilla: Unleashed will be available at the Foundation 9 booth, # 4630.

We're really excited to get our hands on these especially with the innovations mentioned so far by the developers. It was earlier revealed that DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 will finally go online while Godzilla: Unleashed will have a good and engaging Story Mode that the franchise has been lacking all these years.

Speed Grapher and Desert Punk, too! - Image 1Yesterday, it was Patrick Swayze and his dirty dancing ways. Today, it's Shimada Kambei and the rest of his band of samurai who are invading iTunes. Funimation Entertainment announced on Tuesday that it was offering Japanese anime for sale on the iTunes Store. According to PlaylistMag.com, iTunes users can now download "Samurai 7", "Speed Grapher", and "Desert Punk" beginning today.

Funimation president and CEO Gen Fukunaga said that his company’s anime series are the first to be offered on iTunes. "This is a great opportunity to offer our top-rated anime series through the world’s most popular online music, TV and movie store," said Fukunaga.

Each episode is priced at US$ 1.99. Season passes are also available for US$ 38.99 each. Hopefully we'll be seeing "Basilisk" available soon.
