Even if you aren't a hardcore racing fan on the international scene, gamers might want to take a look at the recent events of the Dodge Dealers 400 race at the Dover International Speedway. Two video game-sponsored cars took place in the event: Wii's Ford make car driven by Greg Biffle and the Halo's Dodge driven by David Stremme. Spectators in Dover saw a lot of action during the event in the form of fast-paced racing circuits, as well as a host of accidents littering the track. Included among these mishaps was the Halo car which had a burned out engine and was only able to complete 287 laps, placing only 39th out of the 43 drivers who competed. It was good news, however, for the Wii camp as they finished at a phenomenal second place behind Office Depot's Carl Edwards. Even the winner praised Biffle's driving skill, despite him having his own mechanical troubles with his vehicle. In retrospect, the rivalry between consoles just never seem to end - be it on the race track or in the video gaming industry. Let's just hope the outcome of this race isn't a prophetic one in nature when it comes to the two gaming giant's console rivalry. |

The last few iterations of the Ford video game franchise enjoyed moderate successes in the market. But a lot of people argue that the series is still lacking that one defining title that will establish Ford's foothold in the racing genre. Empire Interactive is planning to change all that as it announced Ford Off Road for the PSP, PS2, and PC.
Compared to the previous titles, one of the more interesting changes to Ford Off Road is that the licensed vehicles in the game are now allowed to get dirty and receive body damage. Empire simply explained that the car companies have "relaxed" their laws a bit on this matter. There are still no specific details as to how many vehicles will be available this time but Empire Interactive mentioned that there will be more than 24 tracks spanning across various environments like mountains, forests and deserts. Some of the race modes will include Time Trial and Show Me The Money. The main campaign will last a regular player for about 15 hours. Curiously, Empire Interactive wasn't able to furnish any information regarding the multiplayer mode for the PC version. PlayStation Portable players need not worry on that aspect as the company mentioned that six players can race it out in one go using the handheld's Wi-Fi connection. Ford Off Road is expected to come out this November. |

The next NASCAR season is going to be quite remarkable for Wii fans. For the first time, Nintendo is sponsoring a car at the said event. The car itself, the number 16 Ford Fusion, will be sporting a Wii theme. The man behind the wheels will be Greg Biffle. If you're not particularly a big fan of racing or NASCAR, you don't have to worry if your "Wii car" has a good chance of winning because Biffle is one of the more experienced drivers out there. He has been racing at the event for more than a decade now and has already won several trophies. The last one was the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The Wii-themed Ford Fusion, furthermore, has already been tested during the race that took place at the Chicagoland Speedway from July 13 to 15. If you want to see it for yourself, take a look at this schedule:

Hot on the heels of the game's announcement come these 7 new screenshots from Ford Street Racing: LA Duel, and while they're not really in-game screens per se, they do a good job of showing off some of the cars available in the game. You can see the SVT Cobra above, while the other pictures include prestigious models like the GT90, Shelby GR-1, Mustang GT, and SVT Sport Trac Adrenalin, some of which are exclusive to the PSP version of the game. The full game will provide players with a total of 24 cars, which they can then compete with on 37 richly detailed tracks based around the streets of Los Angeles..
