What happened in the week past for the gaming world? A lot. A whole lot. From word wars to raging one-eyed warriors, superheroic PSP homebrew releases, expansions, dates galore (launch dates, delayed dates, blind dates), we've got it all right here. Whilst the week was more... sedate, if you can call it that, compared to last, that's not to say we saw less action. So let's get this party started, so we can all get ready for the next one! So what do we have for this week's big homebrew releases? Well, there's a new version of Daedalus X64, for one. For those who use their PSPs for a lot of media viewing, there's also a new PSP Video Converter release. Game-wise, we have one of the most addictive games to come out in a while (more so if you're a Final Fantasy fan): an OpenBOR game featuring characters from the first Final Fantasy game. But enough talk. On to the recap!

Big news, the beta 2 for Daedalus X64 is out now and ready for download. This version features some major changes, so your ROMS run much smoother than before, plus a lot of other changes from the first beta. Check the complete changelog in the full article.

Sbrillion1 has tipped us off about an unofficial release of a compiled SVN build of Daedalus rev306. Apparently, HLthe1freeman did the dirty work for the lazy and those who don't know how, and he made the unofficial release of the emulator. You can get it right here.

I'm sure more than a handful of you have been wondering whatever happened to the Daedalusx64 project. We were expecting something for everyone's Nintendo 64 emulator of choice for the PSP sometime towards the end of last year, and now, Kreationz has finally announced that Beta 2 may be getting a release shortly, and while we're waiting on that, they're also holding a design contest for all you guys to join in!

"No, I didn't choke on a mince pie :)," writes StrmnNrmn in his blog. Yes, he's back in action, folks! He finally makes his presence felt but talking about what's been going on for the past couple of months: he's busy with work ("work" here being a "high profile game"!), the DaedalusX64 team and their efforts, future plans, and his top-secret project of porting Daedalus to an entirely new platform!

We missed you StrmnNrmn! Godspeed! There will be cake!

Woot! Yes, indeedy: StrmnNrmn is back in the scene! We just got confirmation from Kreationz that StrmnNrmn is joining the DaedalusX64 team - not full-time, mind you, but more as a consultant with some minor contributions. We also get news that he's working on a port of the original Daedalus project too!

*Update* Kreationz has clarified certain matters and given some new info.

This was a triumph! We're making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS. The DaedalusX64 project is out of beta alpha - they're releasing on time! Turns out that the the team working on StrmnNrmn's Daedalus N64 emulator project for the PSP has decided to actually release a beta version before their DaedalusX64-tailored R14 release. Y'know, a beta version to whet your appetites before the main course. See Kreationz's public message in the full article!

Woot for progress! For the past couple of days, all we've been hearing from the DaedalusX64 team were updates and partial changelogs. Time to change all that with some concrete evidence. Shinydude100 has announced that they've finally managed to compile their first alpha build for DaedalusX64! We've even got screens from Chilly Willy, plus a promise of a video demoing Ocarina of Time!
