Lisa Nowak - Image 1This month, American astronaut and US Navy Captain Lisa Marie Nowak got arrested and subsequently charged with attempted murder of US Air Force Captain Colleen Shipman, a woman Nowak thought was her rival for another astronaut's affections.

This happening spawned talk of how NASA deals with unstable astronauts in space. As you may well know, would-be space scientists are carefully tested and screened to eliminate those who are unstable. A mentally unstable astronaut could cause all sorts of havoc that could endanger their crew members in a space station.

It turns out that NASA has a detailed set of written procedures for dealing with a suicidal or psychotic astronaut in space. Associated Press declares that these procedures include binding the questionable astronaut's wrists and ankles with duct tape, tying him down with a bungee cord and injecting him with tranquilizers if necessary.

There are no weapons, no guns in a space shuttle; a bullet could pierce a space ship and could kill everyone. There are no stun guns on hand, either. As a precaution, space station kits contain anti-depression and tranquilizers, anti-anxiety and anti-psychotic medications. No NASA astronaut has ever been treated with these medications while on space; then again, like what was mentioned above, it seems that there's nothing a roll of duct tape couldn't fix.

SC-X210WL

About a month ago, Samsung released the SC-X210L which was billed as a sports camera that could record you in action while bungee jumping or skiing, so that you can show off your conquests to everybody. This one comes with a remote lens unit that could record those ''helmet cam" moments, Fear Factor style. The only problem is that the remote lens had to be connected via USB cable to the cam, so recording yourself while rock climbing is gonna be more challenging with the cable always smacked right in your face.

Samsung became well aware with that problem and has now released the SC-X210WL, an upgraded version where the lens went wireless. It has a 15-foot range so you still need to stay close to your man, but you need not worry about the cord being stuck to the harness or something. It works via tried-and-tested RF technology, keeping the bandwidth high enough for video and the power consumption low enough to actually be useful. This one will be available in September and the 1GB model costs $679, if 1GB is too small for you, you could always make use of its SD card slot.

DB Weiss

Everything that has succumbed to glitz and glamour of Hollywood has inevitably turned commercial, boring and tasteless, most especially for devoted fans of that book, play or game, being turned into commercial success. But, avid fans of the Halo game franchise by Bungee, can rest their pretty, little gamer heads, because their favorite game, is in good hands.

D.B. Weiss is an accomplished writer, a graduate of Wesleyan University, he earned a Masters of Philosophy in Irish Literature from Trinity College in Dublin and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the Iowa Writers' Workshop, and is best known for his critically acclaimed fictional story entitled Lucky Wander Boy. The story is about Adam Pennyman, who decides to make an analysis of every videogame ever made and compile to what he calls, The Catalogue of Obsolete Entertainments.

And what's all introduction about D.B. Weiss got to do with Halo? He's just the one writing the screenplay for Halo that's going to be executive produced by Lord of the Rings Trilogy and King Kong  director Peter Jackson, that's all. Here's Weiss talking about Halo, in an interview with Game Set Watch.

The full interview awaits after the jump!
