After a short hiatus, benh is back on the PSP homebrew scene with a new app called Super - Flasher. Super - Flasher, which is currently at v0.1, is a program that flashes to your PSP. Right now it only flashes gameboots but benh plans to add more features soon, such as a theme changer, a version changer, and a more user-friendly interface.Like we mentioned, Super - Flasher writes to your PSP's flash be very careful and make sure to read the readme file included in the download before you try it out. According to benh, Super - Flasher has only been tested on 3.03 OE-C, but since it's just a basic app, he reckons that it should work on most homebrew-enabled firmware. Some of you guys have been saying that you've lost all hope in UMD games for your beloved PSPs. What with delayed releases, the extra expenses, and whatnots, it's really all too easy to just resign to the kickass homebrew games you can get for free. And with games like splodger15's latest release - PSP Turismo - hell, we won't even try to blame you for feeling that way. As you can probably tell from the screenshot, the objective of the game is to get past the other vehicles by dodging them and manipulating your car using the D-pad. As compared to the previous version, v0.3 now has music (splodger15 thanks mavsman4457 for the tracks chosen), the difficulty is increased, and the game is now in eboot format. Also, splodger15 has fixed the bug where the cars didn't know their x and y positions. He gives credit to a lot of people who helped him out: cools, for his mp3 Lua player mod, gunntims0103 for the menu, lmtlmt for help with the controls on the first release, and Benh for helping with the collision. splodger15 also says that he's sorry if he forgot to mention anyone who helped out and if so, contact him so that he'll be able to give you a shout out in his next release. Benh has dished out something sweet for LUA coders: the LUA Reader Beta. It's a program that opens lua files on your PSP. It's still a basic application, the coder warns, and you have to first rename your file to index.lua to view it. Moreover, the app only lets you keep one index.lua file in the lua reader at a time. To install, first, unzip the file and put the contents into the game folder on your memory stick. Rename a lua file to index.lua in order to view it. Then, put it into the luareader folder in the game folder on your memory stick. There's a lot of room for feedback on this app. benh says this is his first C app and he's still got a list of to-dos in the pipeline: He'll update it so that you don't have to rename the file to index.lua to view it. We can also look forward to benh adding a file viewer so you can browse the memory card for lua files as well. As it's still in a beta state, we will be on the lookout for updates of this app as they come. Meanwhile, download the file as benh has also included a sample piece of code for you to test out.
