As far as the British are concerned, the BBC iPlayer is already available on the Wii and PS3. What's the hold-up for Xbox 360? According to sources close to BBC’s Future Media and Technology department, the delay is due to the conflict between BBC's public service remit and the fact that Microsoft wants to charge for the service via Gold and Sky subscriptions.

With their new James Bond game coming out next year plus plans to make a series out of the Bond franchise, Activision decided not to get Daniel Craig as the face of their James Bond. Daniel Craig's a big star - it'll be hard to fit sessions of dialog recording into his busy schedule, he'll have Bond movies to shoot - all that and he's expensive, too. So instead, we'll be getting Adam Croasdell.

The Headsoft team has ported the classic ZX Spectrum platformer game Manic Miner to the Nintendo DS. This release includes various stages of the Manic Miner ports from Oric, BBC Micro, Dragon 32, Amstrad CPC and Game Boy Advance.

The Beatles: Rock Band (PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii) has been a resounding success, so which band will Harmonix and MTV Games be shining the spotlight on in the next Rock Band game? It's all fog and haze at this point, but according to guitarist Brian May we can now add Queen to the pool of candidates.

The PS3 may have lost its throne to the DSi in the Japanese hardware charts this week, but the PS3 blog has continued to see big news. We saw a spat between the BBC and Sony, problems fixed and problems caused by a new firmware update, and the release of the demo for what promises to be one of the great PS3 releases of the year, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Kurt Cobain may not have been alive to turn down Activision's offer to appear as a fully playable character on Guitar Hero 5 (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii), but Jon Bon Jovi most definitely is! Talking to BBC, the rocker revealed that Activision had also approached him to appear for the game, which he rejected.

Yesterday, the BBC's consumer rights show Watchdog looked into allegations of systematic failure issues plaguing launch versions of the PS3 console. Sony's had their say, and now that the Watchdog episode has been broadcast, the BBC has had theirs as well. Thing is, the BBC isn't done yet. Neither is Sony, for that matter. Both have since issued a statements backing up their respective claims.

The PS3 is certainly all over the news right now, isn't it? Even BBC is getting in on the action, but not in a way that you'd think. BBC's Watchdog program is set to feature the PS3 in a report, claiming that Sony is refusing to fix systems suffering from the YLOD, or the Yellow Light of Death. The report also threw the PS3 hardware reliability into question, prompting Sony to immediately rush to the defense of their console.
