The game is pretty much a souped up version of Pong with improved graphics and free movement, similar to an actual Air Hockey table. More details in our full article.

Enjoyed Wii Sports? Well, here are some gameplay vids that might pull you into the world of Wii Play. Yeah, it's been out for a couple of days already but these clips may help you decide whether to get it or not.

Here's a taste of action from Laser Hockey (more like air hockey), Table Tennis, Find Mii (spot the differences and similarities), Pose Mii (bubble matching), and Shooting. This just might be the next most addicting party game in the history of the Wii and more fun with the Wiimote.

See the rest of the vids after the jump!

Shoot it!Before Cabela even heard of video games, there was this lovely little game on the NES called Duck Hunt. In it, you could relive the glory days of a hunter and his dog, before bullets became expensive. Good thing we get another shot at it, as Americans will be able to relive the good old days of shooting things and making "pew-pew-pew" sounds while doing so, among other activities.

Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's president, finally confirmed the release of Wii Play for American audiences. Unlike Wii Sports, its brother title, Wii Play is comprised of nine casual games that aren't related  to videogame versions of action-packed real-life sports (unless you count table tennis). For instance, you can play billiards in this game, as well as fish, try virtual air hockey, and make Mii avatars pose for you. Of course, Wii Play also has the spiritual descendant of the above-mentioned NES shooter in the form of Shooting Range.

All of these games will use the Wiimote in one way or another, so expect more minigame fun to hit your televisions soon. Now, if only they'd come out with a release date and a price for the game, then this day would be complete.

Karate Kid? Nah. Too 80s. Enter the Dragon? Too serious. Xiaolin Showdown? Just the right mix. You can be one of Master Fung's dragon-in-training as you play Konami's game for the DS of the same title. Take on the characters of Omi, Raimundo Pedrosa, Kimiko Tohomiko or Clay Bailey as they fight against the evil that is Jack Spicer. Release date is sometime in November.

Craig Harris of IGN describes this game being developed by Razorback as a "Double Dragon style brawler done in an isometric ľ view." The demo has demonstrated some good and bad points. Characters were a bit slow in movement and collision detection was off, but, smashing, lifting and throwing objects at enemies or at switches are fine and comes a lot into the game's early stages.

You can also treat yourselves to a variety of mini-games like "Wind Hockey" which is a touch screen version of air hockey, a "Breakout" challenge, a four player top-down challenge and bowling, that shows the most potential among the others mentioned. All these games will be unlockable in the main game as well as being fully playable outside of the battle. It supports the DS' download play feature for a high kicking multiplayer showdown.

Paddle Battle DS - Image 1 Paddle Battle DS - Image 2

Another entry for the NeoFlash Summer Coding Competition (2006) was released today, this one being made by Sumiguchi called Paddle Battle DS. As most game names suggest, this title relates to the actual game. This game is a clone of everyone’s favorite game – air hockey! Although no computer games have ever gotten as good as the original table version, it’s definitely something great to play on-the-go.

The paddles are controlled by the stylus and the direction of the puck is controlled by the ABXY buttons. The most practical way to control and move it will be using "X" to direct it forward. If you choose not to direct the puck, it will go around the table like crazy, and would be almost impossible to score and win the game with. Good luck in the competition Sumiguchi!

Portal site for Flash-based games

Jesus Escobar from El Centro California is a real friendly chap. He has, from what we gather, made a compilation of exciting Flash-based games that he has scoured over the web into one site. The portal is relatively simple and navigation is very easy, just point and click.

It's all still a work in progress, there are still a few games included in the files but not yet incorporated in the site like in da tub, portaball and (I am personally looking forward to this one) you kicked my dog. However, the numerous games available will more than make up for it. Among the games that we've tested over at the QJ HQ, we recommend Pimp Your Car, IC draw (or as Jesus puts it: "a better PSP Paint") and Air Hockey. You can also choose and switch between two site layouts.

You can either use your PSP or your PC to indulge in some Flash madness.

Thanks a whole lot to Jesus for sharing his work.

airhockeyHow would you like to play a game of airhockey with a stranger a thousand miles away? It's possible with Airhockey Over a Distance. While online web chats are havens for lonely strangers looking for good company, meeting people online for the first time still has the same awkward moment as you'd have on a first date. Airhockey Over a Distance aims to introduce people miles apart using the social power of a quick casual game.

Airhockey Over a Distance is played the same way we play airhockey, but the table is split in half and the two ends are connected via a network. Players shoot a real puck back and forth to try to score a goal (and a date, perhaps?). It gives the illusion of playing together on one table.

Though we'd prefer a real game of airhockey, we think that Airhockey Over a Distance just might catch on. The sound of puck hitting the table can very well be the ultimate icebreaker. But with a game that requires focus and concentration, we'd think conversations would be limited to cheers and grunts.
