It didn't take long before Sony PlayStation Portable homebrew developer
ZiNgA BuRgA came out to release an update just after the last for RCO
Editor. This time, the PSP homebrew application RCO Editor version
1.15c fixes a few bugs that were missed by version 1.15b.ZiNgA BuRgA's nifty app, as some would know, allows users to customize the XMB by changing icons, sounds, and text. It's also possible to modify some page and animation data, while most resources you need are already included in the package. RCO Editor version 1.15 seems to be a quick update, but it should address various bugs in the GIM conversion routine from previous releases. The PSP homebrew developer wants to remind everyone as usual that backing up your original flash0 resource files is advisable. For more details, or themes ZiNgA BuRgA has to offer, visit the developer's website via link below. Download: RCO Editor v1.15c |

If you missed our previous coverage on this application, this program allows users to modify RCO files in the PSP's flash0 directory. The RCO Editor is a pretty flexible tool which allows users to replace icons, sounds, text and even modify some page and animation data. If you've been using an older version of this application, you might be interested in viewing the RCO Editor v1.15 b. Here are the changes: Changes in 1.15b

As PSP developer ZiNgABuRgA stated over at his site, it's been getting busy lately, which unfortunately means less time to work on the RCO Editor application. But aside from this rather bad news, the developer's also letting everybody know that RCO Editor v1.14d and its source code are now up and about. This application, as its names implies, will allow users to modify the RCO files that appear on their PSP's flash0. Here are its latest changes:
The app is available for download here - guys interested in joining related discussions are invited to head on over to the app's thread over at the QJ.Net Forums, begun by forum member oni8245. Lastly, guys interested in picking up v1.14d's source code are invited to visit ZiNgABuRgA site (the source link). Enjoy the download! Download: RCO Editor v1.14d Visit: QJ's PSP Hacks Forum |

We don't know if anyone among you have tried this before but homebrew developer undertaxxx took a look at FW 3.50's code using RCO Editor from ZiNgABuRgA. And if all his interpretations are correct, we might be seeing our much-loved PlayStation Portable units hooked up to TV sets in the future.
The said code has a small reference to videout located in "impose_plugin.rco" complete with its own icon. Aside from this, undertaxxx also noticed a Line_Out Icon stored in the same rco. A good knowledge in coding will tell anyone that this is indeed is somehow connected to "video and audio out" functionality but Sony still has its mouth shut. Another thing similar to this has happened before. It should be remembered that developer MATIAz found a hidden code in the decrypted version of "vshmain.prx" from FW 3.10 referring to Skype functionality. A couple of weeks after that, it was found out that California's Jajah Inc. will indeed be offering VoIP services for the PSP. What do you think guys? It's not really impossible if we're going to consider the handheld's capabilities as it very much can do this thing. The only question here is if Sony is really willing to implement it. |

Homebrew application RCO Editor is already synonymous with the name ZiNgaBuRgA. If you haven't been paying attention to this program, it's pretty much self-explanatory. Basically, your PlayStation Portable (PSP) unit contains various RCO files or localized resources (icons, sounds, text, etc.), and the RCO Editor allows users to tinker with these files. That's pretty nifty, if we may add. Now, developer ZiNgaBuRgA just released a new version for his pet application. Now in version 1.14b, RCO Editor offers more customization options. The complete changelog is as follows: RCO Editor v1.14b

Homebrew developer ZiNgaBuRgA just updated his pet application RCO Editor to version 1.13. This is good news to members of the community who love to tinker with their PlayStation Portable's (PSP) localized resources or what are known as RCO files. For those who are quite new to this, take note that your handheld has several RCO files stored in the "flash0:/vsh/resource" folder. These files may include icons, sounds, texts, and others that are being used by the unit in the XMB. So, with RCO editor, you can actually change those to your liking and modify some page data. Since the last release, only a little has changed with RCO Editor version 1.13, but that's not to say that these modifications are not at all important. A few bugs have been wiped out and most noteworthy of all is the change in the way page resources are displayed. The Readme file, mind you, has also been updated to read that first. According to ZiNgaBuRgA, the application should only be used with decrypted RCO files. Try to play smart with the program and you will see it crash or semi-brick your PSP. Firmwares 2.50 and 2.60 are preferred but you might see some glitches. Take note that using a FW 2.50 "topmenu_plugin.rco" on FW3.1x will quite damaged your handheld. Lastly, the homebrew coder notes that if you're not too certain with what you're doing, kindly back up your original flash0 resource files before flashing custom RCOs. Download: RCO Editor v1.13 |

*UPDATE* In an effort to continuously improve on all his releases ZiNgaBuRgA has made a small update to RCO Editor, minor one really, to v1.12b. The letter "b" carries with it the following update package, all available at the updated Download link below:
ZiNgaBuRgA has once again updated his application, the nifty RCO Editor to version 1.12. Yeah, this application spawned the various customized XMBs that once lorded QJ. This generic RCO editor will only work with decrypted RCOs and according to ZiNga, firmware 2.50 is preferred and this has only been tested on 3.03 OE-C and 3.10 OE. But this one would also work on all 2.71 SE and 3.0x OE.Anyhow, here is the changelog for RCO Editor v1.12. If you want a more detailed changelog, you could go ahead and check out our PSP Mods and Media release thread wherein covandy01 dissected the changes for this release. Yeah, we've been giving you a barrage of XMB icon edits nowadays - but you may ask how did they come about? Well, the answer to that is ZiNgaBuRgA. He is the creator of the RCO Icon Editor for the PSP, and now he has updated his creation to v1.11. You may know about editing the topmenu_plugin.rco to give you custom XMB icons, but did you know that other RCOs also contain icons? Worry no more because this app aims to be a generic RCO editor. Anyhow, before we go about the red-laden warnings, let's tackle the changelog first. Changelog for RCO Editor v1.11:
The next thing for you to do is read the readme file that comes with the download. ZiNgaBuRgA dished out a very detailed readme file so as you'd be adequately informed about the app. Now that that's over, get the file through our download link below. Download: RCO Editor v1.11 |

ZiNgaBuRgA has just released the latest version of his generic RCO Icon Editor for the PSP - it is now at version 1.10. Given that there have been some noticeably heavy XMB customizing as of late (along with the recent XMB icon packs and tutorials), we're sure the homebrew community will appreciate this bit of good news, especially given that this editor will work with just about any RCO file out there. Here's a little something for those who love customizing their PSPs. Sp3ct0r has released a set of Halo XMB icons. Check it out by downloading the whole icon set below. Oh, and in case you're wondering, Sp3ct0r says that the battery icon's made up of magnum bullets. Before you install this icon set, please make a backup of your original topmenu_plugin. And be careful, fer chrissakes. PSPs are expensive. If you're looking for homebrew apps that let you change your PSP's XMB icons, be sure to check out dark420bishop's PSP Submenu Icon Injector. ZiNgABuRgA's RCO Icon Editor is also a cool app, so check it out too. If you've got a bunch of homemade icons for the PSP, don't hesitate to log on to the QJ forums and release 'em there. Spread the homebrew love, people. Download: [Halo XMB icon set] |
