Haze - Image 1German gaming news website GameFront has managed to score some info on Free Radical and Ubisoft's upcoming shooter Haze courtesy of the June 2007 issue of Independent PlayStation Magazine.

According to GameFront, Haze runs on its own engine at a framerate of 30 fps. Loading times and "intermediate sequences" are supposedly nonexistent. It has four gameplay modes: online, offline, LAN, and split-screen. In single player, team members will be controlled completely by the computer. Oh, and the main character seems to have undergone a name change. While he was referred to as Jake Carpenter in previous interviews, the GameFront post mentions him as "Shan" Carpenter.

The weapons and gear available in the game include the following:
  • BSW-72 Assault Rifle - fires armor-piercing 5.56mm uranium projectiles
  • Trooper Assault Helmet - supplies real-time data to troopers on the battlegrounds while keeping constant contact with the base through a built-in communication device
  • Nectar administrator - found on the neck of soldiers. Has up to five doses of Nectar, a "biometric substance" that greatly augments a soldier's combat abilities. Too much Nectar has side effects, though.
  • SK3 Fragment Shells - ideal for clearing up massed enemies and destroying small vehicles
  • Wilson D6 Pistol - equipped with 2x magnification and a laser target and holds 18 shots.
  • Integrated Schutzpanzer - no idea what "Schutzpanzer" means exactly, but the description leads us to believe that this is the heaviest armor in the game ("withstands the most rifle and pistol balls")
Haze is slated for a multiplatform release on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. A specific release date has yet to be announced, but some sites have the game's release listed as November.

Alien Syndrome screen shot - Image 1

Alien Syndrome first came out in 1987 as a run and gun arcade game developed by Sega. This was why it was such a surprise when Sega announced that they would be releasing Alien Syndrome on the Wii. But instead of Rick and Mary, Earth Command Trooper Aileen Harding will be shooting alien butts this time.

This Totally Games-developed title will have the player, playing as Aileen Harding, use around 20 types of weapons to rid spaceships and planets of 100 types of alien scum. Check out the screenshots of this exciting title.

And so another classic game is resurrected on your PSPs. Having previously appeared on several systems with the last being Sega Game Gear in 1992, Alien Syndrome will have you running and gunning down (make a wild guess on this -- yep, ya got it) aliens.

Don't expect to see Ricky and Mary though, as Aileen Harding will be featured as the new Earth Command Trooper. Not to worry, we trust she'll be just as kickass, what with 20 different types of weapons to blast the bejeezus outta the 100 alien species you'll encounter in the game.

And to give you a sneak peek at all this action, we're gonna share with you this Alien Blasting gameplay video we scored via GameTrailers which shows us some of the aliens you'll be fighting off -- from the ginormous creepy crawlies (that multiply when blasted) to the three-legged weird-assed creatures.

But anyway, we'll just let you catch all that yourself, just hit play and you're good to go.

Ever get those days you just want to take a walk? And from the looks of it, even Gears of War trooper Marcus Fenix gets them too. We mentioned earlier that there were going to be two free maps that will be released today. Now, for the guys who want a sneak peek of these new multiplayer maps before the download, here they are.

The first map is titled "Raven Down," where players must find a downed Raven helicopter in the middle of a ruined city. The second map, titled "Old Bones," places you in an old museum to prevent the Locust from destroying any remaining human artifacts. Take a walk with Fenix on the tours, and enjoy the view.

Sometimes, it's the simple things that rock. The Swiss-made Sig-550 assault rifle for example swapped out standard issue tin rifle mags for a clear-plastic set, which not only made the gun lighter and more reliable (plastic doesn't dent like tin, hence less jams), but also allowed the trooper using it to just take a glance at the mag to see how much ammo he had left without having to rack the bolt and yank out the mag, as with what Solid had to do in his trailer (You know you want one, Snake).

As far-fetched as it sounds, we were thinking that when we picked up this short video clip cannae45 posted over at youtube. Nothing fancy here - he just remade his PSP UMD door with a viewing port, which allowed the user to get an eyeful of the UMD's metal cradle, and the title of whatever game he pops into the console. Sure, it ain't as pimpin' as a light-up door, or even a PSP port of the PS2 analog stick, but like we said, there's an elegance to subtle but practical mods like these we love. Enjoy the vid.

MOH

Even after we've been hearing all the news that Medal of Honor: Airborne's getting ready for transport  to the Xbox 360 and PS3,  you fellas are probably wondering what this game's gonna look like when it hits the PC - the third designated DZ (Military lingo for Drop Zone) for this game as it touches down 2007.

Well boys, we got some good news for 'ya: We got these screenshots over from the PC version of this turkey, and we figured you'd wanna compare these to the other screenshots over at the PS3 and Xbox 360 ports, just to give you an idea of which might be the best deal.

Medal of Honor: Airborne puts you in the jump boots of a US Army Airborne trooper - Band of Brothers comes to mind - as you go muzzle-to-muzzle with Nazi Germany's last lines of defence in some of the bloodiest battles of World War II. From the war-torn city of Normandy to the infamous Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes Forest, this ain't gonna be a picnic, boys.

And now, here're the pics:

dsgoclock - Image 1 dsgoclock - Image 2

Trooper is really proud and pleased of his first homebrew, so much so that he decided to share it with all of you! The DsGoClock is "a Go clock to be used while playing on real board". While Trooper is skeptical as to just how many people would actually find use for it, he nonetheless hopes that it will be appreciated.

In order to start the program, you only need to define the parameters of the stopwatch, and then press Start. Upon touching the screen, the time will then start running. To switch between the two chronos, simply touch the screen; to pause, press Start. Well, anyhow, you can dig through the Read Me from the downloadable file we've hosted.

So, give it a go. You never know, it just might turn out to be the biggest thing you need. Thanks for being such a trooper, Trooper.
