Minority Report - Image 1Remember those scenes in Minority Report where Tom Cruise was using his super awesome computer? It looked so cool back then and I was wondering when I would be able to surf the net, switch through windows, and click on links all with the use of my hands. From what Ubisoft exec Michael de Plater said in an interview with VG247, that technology is well within reach, and it's called Project Natal.

Guitar Heidi - Image 1So we've seen David Archuleta and David Cook have a round of their own Guitar Hero RIsky Business ads. Today, we see none other than model-slash-"actress" Heidi Klum strut her own stuff for Activision's rhythm title. There are actually two versions of Heidi Klum's ad. As Isaac C put it, one is the "day time version" while the other, the director's cut, is the one they air for "after dark" shows. You'll see why in the full article.

Tom Cruise from the movie Minority Report - Image 1If any of you remember the movie Minority Report, you might remember the scene where Tom Cruise interacts with the keyboard-free, futuristic computers using a pair of "virtual gloves" to type in commands and drag windows while searching for the bad guys. If you think that's a little farfetched, believe it or not, such technology might not be so far off with a little ingenuity using your Wiimote.

Check out the video of how to reproduce this cool technology right after the jump!

LocoRoco

Ever remember those days when you walk into your favorite steakhouse, and see some framed picture taken of the restaurant owner shaking hands with some bigwig celebrity (like say, Tom Cruise)? From showbiz to gaming, the trend doesn't really change much, especially for one lucky store in Austria.

While you guys are snuggling up with your copy of the LocoRoco Xmas demo, we thought we'd warm up the season a little more with news coming in about the game's Director, Tsutomo Kouno. The LocoRoco dude was spotted over at the Austrian-based Subotron Shop games and gadgets shop, where he was passing on the Yuletide cheer with an on-the-spot LocoRoco graffiti drawing.

A game director trying for publicity? Naaah, given how nice a guy Kouno-san's shown himself to be, we're taking this as his way of getting in touch with that inner child, the same material that got his creative juices working for this PSP title. Next on our wish list: A Hideo Kojima Tattoo?

WiimoteSo much has been said about the Wii and the PS3, two next-gen consoles that launched virtually at the same time. Sony has been very big on high technology, even claiming they are forward looking. Stepping into Sony's shoes and seeing the world from their own eyes, it's amusing and amazing how the future is built on graphics alone and almost nothing else.

On the other hand, you have the Wii. Some may say that it might be "poorer" in terms of graphics, but its motion-sensing controller is indeed starting a revolution. Forget the broken TVs, forget all the computer hacks -  everything good needs something that will pave its way. You may want to call it boo-boos, but Nintendo might have struck something golden and lasting this time.

Put it this way: in the movie Minority Report, Tom Cruise's character is a detective in the year 2054. He was depicted in various scenes, standing in front of a screen moving videos and data around by shifting his hands. The Wiimote is almost exactly like that. And it doesn't matter how fanboys or big corporations would boast about their controller's intelligent features, they are all still base on "the whole click and point mouse paradigm."

Now, we are not naive. We know that motion-sensing technology is nothing new. For some time now, the military has been using the motion-sensing chip for purposes related to their craft and duties. What we are saying is that, Nintendo took this technology and made it mainstream. Old technology plus new users equals a rewarding and appealing experience.

In case you're still having reservations about the Wiimote, just remember: the Internet itself started as a military project. The rest, as they say, is history.
