Bizarre Creations, developer of The Club and Boom Boom Rocket - Image 1For those of you wondering what ever happened to The Club and Boom Boom Rocket, two games from Bizarre Creations, then you'll be glad to know that the developers have some good news. In a recent update from the developer's website, both games are looking to pass their respective certification tests and will be soon be released with solid features when they finally come out.

In the case of The Club, the two console builds (Xbox 360 and PS3) for the game will prove whether or not the game will push through with its "early 2008" release date as was previously announced by the developers. The PC version of the game, however, won't have to go through such formalities and is expected to follow the console version after hopefully passing the certification.

In a recent demonstration for The Club during the Game City event in Nottingham, the game showed off some of the game modes that were going to be featured in this third person shooter. Both the Sprint and Time Attack modes still rely on the player being able to rack up as many points to add to your timer across a certain stage or during an allotted time span.

As for Boom Boom Rocket, the new update for the game has recently passed its certification. While it wasn't announced when the new build will go live, Bizarre Creations has announced the list of new features this highly addictive XBLA game will be sporting:
  • Guitar and dance mat peripheral support
  • Japanese and Korean language support
  • Tweaked scoring system to make grade awarded more fair (now purely based on accuracy)
  • The huge loud "noise" which popped up occasionally on endurance mode is now gone
  • Occurrences of scores getting overwritten with a lower score when playing with 2 profiles signed in is now fixed.
  • Display updates when viewing the game through a VGA cable.
  • Friends leaderboard now shows extra information such as grade, accuracy, etc.
  • Multiplayer endurance mode fix for player colours swapping sporadically.
  • Slightly bigger and better explosions (updates to firework rendering)

Warhammer Online - Image 1In a recent interview with the EA Mythic's Warhammer Online Development Team, the WAR Community Team answered some questions about the game regarding Tactic Points, Quests, and other sprinting.

The WAR Community Team clarifies that the game will have seven Tactics slots (powers you can use in battle). You earn Tactics for slots either through career advancement, Renown, or through quests.

You can opt not to buy Tactics as soon as you get the points to attain them. You can hoard points for later purchases.

The WAR team also explained that you can speed up your sprint but this is at the cost of action points. Depending on the class, the required number of action points needed will vary.

As for Public Quests in Warhammer Online, they are intended to be completed by more than one player. Each stage is timed, and should the timer run out before the stage is completed the whole Quest will restart.

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning will be out (hopefully) by early next year.

Sprint, Alcatel-Lucent's SprintSecure Laptop Guardian - Image 1 Sprint and Alcatel-Lucent have announced that they've developed a comprehensive laptop security service called SprintSecure Laptop Guardian. This new service protects laptops via a special Mobile Broadband Connection Card called the OmniAccess 3500 which allows remote monitoring, tracking, and locking.

The OmniAccess 3500 has its own CPU, memory, SD Slot, and power supply that keeps it working even when the laptop is off. When inserted, it hijacks the TCP/IP stack and controls what information users can download. It then works with a gateway appliance which contains management software that IT administrators use to manage the system.

The card acts as a two-factor authentication key which is said to completely secure the laptop. To gain access to the data in the laptop, users will have to have the card inserted into its PCMCIA slot. If the laptop is stolen, it can be remotely controlled by an enterprise IT administrator via the card.

Here's a list of all the features of the SprintSecure Laptop Guardian:
  • Access to laptop status regardless of the laptop’s power or online state
  • Status of operating system, applications, policy enforcement and usage
  • GPS-based capability (within the mobile broadband connection card) for laptop location
  • Remote wipe or locking of data, if laptop is compromised
  • Enforcement of policies for compliance
  • Over-the-air software distribution
If you plan on picking up this product, expect the OmniAccess 3500 cards to be sold for around US$ 350. The extra security features has been tentatively priced at about US$ 10 to US$ 12 per month. If your laptops contain sensitive data you might want to consider this service as a way of protecting your information.
