You've got to have some "skillz" if you plan on taking on Rebellion Developments and Reef Entertainment's Free Running. This PSP game is based on the physical art of free running which has people trying to get past obstacles in a smooth and fluid manner. The game itself looks very interesting as it has competitors running, jumping and leaping their way to a designated goal. There are multiple locations from London in the game, namely: Inner City, Dockland, and Council Estate. If that's not enough, the developer has included various game modes such as Free Race, Race 'n Chase, Time Attack, Free Style, Target Hit. Master. Slated for a US release next year, this is one game you might want to keep tabs on. If you'd care to see more of the game before getting your hopes up, why don't you browse these 25 screenshots to get an idea of the gameplay? More screenshots at the full article! |

You know what? Methinks this writer's been playing too many video games for too long. The Japanese-based PSP GadgetZ decided to host their own little play-through of Free Running on YouTube. For the purposes of demonstrating the gameplay, we've embedded one of their videos - the one on Freestyle - and as a courtesy, the rest may be available via the Read link. If this game inspires people to start running all over walls... well bone doctors everywhere might become busier. On the other hand, it would be nice to see people put down the game once in a while and exercise for real. And in the outdoors, too - no need to be tied by a Sensor Bar. |

Developer Rebellion Developments and publisher Reef Entertainment recently teamed up with Rotterdam, Netherlands Chief Marketing Office to feature the video game Free Running in Rotterdam's City of Architecture 2007 event. Why is this exciting, you ask? Be informed that it projected a gameplay of the title through the world's possibly biggest TV. This happened because accordingly, the Free Running gameplay vid was the first prize for the lucky winner of the regional heats leading up to the premiere last Saturday, April 14. That means the dude got to play the game while it was projected to the building. The show took place at the heart of the city, specifically on Nedlloyd building, one of the largest structures in Rotterdam overlooking the waterway. Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley mentioned that they are happy to be a part of the City of Architecture event. According to the official, the joint venture also made perfect sense. Kingsley explained, The CMO are communicating Rotterdam as a youth oriented city and playing an urban-sport focused videogame on one of the City's key buildings actively engages with and encourages the young people of Rotterdam to get involved with new and exciting projects. It was an opportunity not to be missed. Many fans have described Free Running as a Tony Hawk video game but without skateboards. It involves running around and dealing with obstacles in your path in an acrobatic manner. It is actually considered as a sport and an art developed by Sebastien Foucan. |

Free Running being developed by Reef Entertainment, is looking pretty good (yes, it's Reef Entertainment now, it has been bounced around from developer to developer). The hype for the game continues to build. The game is basically running while getting around and over obstacles. You have to do it with athleticism, finesse, and style. So if that's your cup of tea, you'll want to keep track of the release dates. It's expected to be out in Europe in the first quarter of this year with the US version following shortly after. If you need more convincing, check out the screenshots. To see more screenshots, click the Full Article link below. |

Given that free running (the sport, not the game) is a moving art, we thought the guys here would appreciate a gameplay trailer to prepare them for Reef Entertainment's Free Running title when it hits UK PSPs this March 16.
As a point of clarification, free running is a separate style from the similar practice of parkour, as free running uses more elements of tricking in its acrobatics - "Tony Hawk, but without skateboards." Lastly, it was parkour, not free running, that was featured in the Casino Royale movie (although free running creator Sebastien Foucan was in the film). Enjoy the trailer! |

The story so far. What's happening with Free Running? Late last year it was announced that Reef Entertainment got the rights to Free Running from Rebellion Development. Before that, Rebellion Development got the rights from Eidos Interactive, because before that, Eidos bought Core Design, and before that, it was Eidos' Core Design team that was working on Free Running - get it? Basically, the game has swapped hands, and it's now with Reef Entertainment, a game publisher based in Milton Keynes in the United Kingdom.
Ubisoft. Now comes Ubisoft Entertainment, the publisher/developer behemoth with headquarters in over 20 countries, and it's probably the third largest independent publisher in Europe and seventh largest publisher in the US. A press release announced that Ubisoft will handle the UK sales and distribution for Free Running (obviously, the United Kingdom is the biggest English-speaking market in Europe). The game will be released March 16, 2007.What is free running? As for "Free Running," it's a sport and an art developed by Sebastien Foucan and others. It's all about running around and dealing with obstacles in your path in an acrobatic manner. For a better idea of what the stylistic sport is about, we had an article about the website and posted a related video. North American release? Free Running has long been expected to be released in North America. If so, it's safe to guess that publisher Ubisoft will also handle sales and distribution in the US and Canada. So it's only a matter of time that we get our hands on this "Tony Hawk, but without skateboards" game. Meanwhile, here's another related video to get you into the spirit of free running: |

Reef Entertainment has just scored the rights to Rebellion Development's new extreme sports franchise Free Running on both the PS2 and the PSP. Earlier this year, Rebellion acquired all rights to Free Running along with the registered trademarks through its acquisition of the former Core Design Studios in Derby from Eidos. Reef's CEO Peter Rezon was practically gushing with excitement over the acquisition. "This is a major coup for us," he said. "Free Running or Le Parkour, as it’s known in France, has been one of the fastest growing underground youth sports over the past two years, gaining massive popularity around the world." Dubbed by some as "a Tony Hawk's game without skateboards," Free Running will feature characters based on the leading free runners in Europe as was developed with the help of sports brand specialist Adidas. Their Free Running apparel and high fashion training shoes all make an appearance in-game. So, when will gamers get to try out this long-awaited game? According to Rezon, "The initial launch will take place across Europe in Q1 2007, with the US release coming shortly after that. The feedback from partners and distributors who have seen the game has been excellent and we expect to see significant sales from this release." |
