PSP homebrew - JoySens v1.4 - Image 1JoySens is back! After about a year now, this CFW plugin is still alive and kicking, thanks to homebrew developer Raphael. If you haven't been around since last year here's a bit of a recap: JoySens allows you to fix the sensitivity of your PSP's analog stick - whether because it's "faulty" or maybe you just want to have a smoother time while playing a game - and map other D-pad buttons to the nub.

PlayStation Portable - Image 1Sony PlayStation Portable homebrew developer Raphael dropped by the QJ.NET Forums to release the newest version of JoySens, now on version 1.3. A couple of days back, the PSP homebrew dev released version 1.2 which was made compatible with Custom Firmware 3.71 M33.

In case you missed the previous releases, here's a brief description of the homebrew application: JoySens is a custom firmware plugin that lets users tweak with the sensitivity settings of the analog stick "in a very efficient way as well as 'repair' faulty analog sticks." So what's new with this version of JoySens? A lot, it seems. Here's a list of updates and changes from Raphael's release thread:
  • Added a rescaling functionality to fix analog sticks that return too small values in either direction (hence the analog stick wouldn't react in that direction)
  • Added DPad/analog swapping
  • Made plugin executable smaller by reverting to kernels libc and implementing a fake pow() function rather than linking libm
  • Ensured compatibility with homebrew (actually needs the plugin enabled in game150.txt/game3xx.txt depending on the set kernel mode)
  • Added FAQ.txt for some frequently asked questions. READ IT BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS!
  • Fixed a minor bug that could cause the plugin and the PSP to crash when using the auto-center function
The dev included a 3.71 compatible version of the plugin with the download, saying that "3.71 with 1.5 kernel patch users need both versions and activate the normal version in their game150.txt file and the 3.71 version in all others." Anyway, check out the download below. Be sure to go over the readme file and the FAQ before anything else.

Sony PlayStation Portable - Image 1Homebrew developer Raphael has released an update for the JoySens analog stick sensitivity plugin on the QJ.NET PSP Development forums. This update is essentially the same as the old JoySens v1.2 except for one thing: 3.71M33 support.

Raphael notes that this is just a preliminary release and isn't guaranteed to work 100 percent just yet. It needs further testing so if you run across any bugs, please feel free to let the developer know by commenting here or posting on our PSP Development forums. You can get there by clicking on the Visit link below.

JoySens is a plugin, so be very careful in installing it on your PlayStation Portables. Read the included readme file for installation and usage information.
