Eat my shorts: Quick impressions on The Simpsons Game (Xbox 360) - Image 1

After 19 seasons, 400 episodes, 22 video games and a whole bunch of other numbers, America's "first family of cartoons" is back in their latest foray into the Simpsons franchise.

This time, you'll see them in their latest adventure in a video game published by Electronics Arts - The Simpsons Game (Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, and DS). The Xbox 360 team here at QJ.NET proudly brings you our first impressions on The Simpsons Game demo.

The Simpsons... in 3D (or not)

The game itself was written from an original storyline by some of the writers from the actual cartoon series. Initially thought to be an adaptation of The Simpsons Movie, the game (or the demo at least) proved to be a true, blue Simpsons classic that gamers can appreciate for both its wacky plot and humorous outtakes typical of the show.

The Simpsons Game is a third-person action game which throws everyone's favorite yellow-skinned characters into a parody of a series of video games of various genre. It purposely pokes fun at a lot of pop culture references, as well as other video games. To accentuate this, each member of the Simpsons family has his ans her own unique video game "power" which fits their personality perfectly.

You can expect the same brand of comedy that has entertained people for over 20 years in the game. With irreverent titles for each level spoofing tributing other famous games, such as "Shadow of the Colossal Donut" and "Medal of Homer", you'd think you were watching separate episodes from the actual TV show.

The graphics switch from pseudo 3D cut scenes lovingly illustrated by Matt Groening to cel shaded 3D models during the actual game. Couple this with the fact that nearly the entire cast reprised their roles and lent their vocal talents for the game, it's no wonder that The Simpsons Game can be considered as every fan's dream of what an interactive Simpsons show would look like.

If you thought getting knocked out by a famous Shotokan fighter's fireballs hurt, it pales in comparison to the uncompromising violence and brutality of a point-blank hook to the jaw.

Featuring the most realistic-looking (and by realistic, yours truly means the most wince-inducing) graphics to date, here's the E3 trailer of the upcoming Ultimate Fighting Championship 2009 by THQ. We give you the skinny on what's happening in the octagon of brutality that's headed to the PS3 and Xbox 360.

In this video, we see famous UFC fighters Rampage and the Iceman trying to make pita bread out of each other's faces, as well as basically try and see whose skeletal system would crumble into tiny bite-sized pieces first. We see a painful knee to the hip area, vicious shots to the jaw and temple, ring-shaking slams, and a classic takedown being turned into a powerbomb. Ouch.

Of course, the video looks to be CGI, but here's hoping the actual gameplay would look just as smooth and as seamless. Enjoy the video.

WoW Arena CGS Ladder Stage concluded - Image 1

And in the world of competitive gaming, the Championship Gaming Series ladder stage has concluded recently, allowing the current top-five teams in each battlegroup to head for the qualifiers round. The second stage will decide which U.S. and European teams can face off at World of Warcraft Arena 2v2 showdown at the upcoming BlizzCon.

From 13 battlegroups, 65 teams will have to double-team their way through the best of the best for a sure ticket inside of Blizzard's Anaheim event. Regional qualifiers already got their passport to Blizzard's haven some time back, and now it's time for 16 lucky ones (eight from Europe, eight from U.S.) to get their share of the opportunity.

Now while no names have been officially announced, we've gone through the hard way of extracting all the top five teams of all battlegroups and listed them here. Hopefully the list was updated in time for this announcement, but if it wasn't then consider these names not etched in stone.

Click on Full Article for the full list of (possibly) qualifying teams from each battlegroup.

V-TECH RAMPAGE by PigPen - Image 1It's sad, but there are actually people that would go low just to seek attention. We've found a Flash game about the Virginia tech incident made by PiGPen, and it wasn't exactly nice.

Three levels of mediocrity ensue, as the stages are poorly designed and the graphics aren't much to look at. To be fair, many Flash games aren't very impressive and this game, called V-TECH RAMPAGE, is no exception.

The game starts with Cho in his room, spouting some obscene lines while planning his massacre. It continues outside where Cho can talk to various people with lines out of plain mockery and racism. Ghetto speak like "Yo headin 'fo wa playa?", "Piss off slanty"and "Imma get mah nails done" could've been funny in different circumstances, but not in a game that relies on a public tragedy for the kicks. To finish the stage, you have to shoot Emily - the girl he was infatuated with and also his first victim.

After Cho gets back to his dorm, he'll be talking more crap then say how he fooled the cops. More crappy game design shows, as the second stage is all about moving a few steps down while trying to avoid patrol. The cops have visible vision cones and predictable movement patterns so it's easy to go deliver the mail then enter Norris Hall for the next part.

The last level happens on a poorly designed stage with three areas, two are almost identical floors while the other is the stairway. Don't expect anything from the dialogues as you'll get mostly poor attempt at sick humor and more racism. Your objective this time is to relive the V-Tech incident, to shoot everything that moves within a time limit. Very lame, the sprites look barely half-decent and they walk in random directions but easy to hit.

The music playing on the background during the first part is one of Cho's favorite songs, while the song during the last level is a racist KKK one. The audio part is as bad as the game itself, with someone shouting "50 hit combo!" during Cho's killing. It tries to glorify the act, but fails for anyone with the least moral sense.

Obviously, the person who made this just wants attention and perhaps just want to offend people. On the comments he received, he gave no serious replies; nothing about why he made such game or exercising free speech. Apparently, he considers his crappy piece of work as art like other projects on the site he hosts. Can a Flash game with no style and all controversy-inducing be considered art? We doubt that.
