With promises of the PlayStation Home service to begin its open beta phase this Fall, SCEE boss David Reeves admitted that they were perhaps getting a bit too ambitious with some of the planned non-gamer applications for it. The final working title for the sequel of Evolution Studios' Motorstorm is still up in the air. But definitely, we know it's coming. Okay, so we may be a bit jealous at those lucky few who are participating in the PlayStation Home Closed Beta test as of this moment. But you might not have to burn green with envy for too long, because Sony's just announced that they're in need of more testers and you could be next. /better yet, SCE says that the Open Beta of PlayStation Home is coming real soon. PlayStation Home has been a consistent target of rumors, with the latest involving the hacking of its open beta. However, here's some rare official word on the community-based online service. Over at the PlayStation Blog, Sony representative Noel Silvia states that Home will not be arriving with Firmware 2.30. More details after the jump.

Word from the folks of the PlayStation 3 underground say that they were able to download a copy of Sony's recent "open beta" build of PlayStation Home, and it appears that some folk have even been able to reproduce the same results. Unfortunately, some of the PS3 hack and exploit contributors were still running PlayStation 3 firmware version 2.10, and only few were willing to brave the less forgiving firmware 2.20 to try it out.
