It should be remembered that when DAX released 3.30 Open Edition Revision A, homebrew developer Pharonyk provided a fix to his LOLstation - POPS Fix to make it compatible with the new custom firmware. As you all know, there's now 3.40 OE-A. So what do you think Pharonyk just did?
Yep, the QJ.Net Forum resident developer just provided another fix to the application so that 3.40 CFW users can join the fun. Basically, LOLstation - POPS Fix will flash two files to your flash0 to allow you to have a custom boot and play PSX games. This is needed because having a custom "opening_plugin.rco" would interfere with your PSP POPStation. Now, the 3.40 fix goes directly in the "lolstation" folder to replace the existing file "game_plugin.prx". Once that's done, you shouldn't worry about anything because Pharonyk made sure that all necessary files have been backed up. Just be sure though that you have free space in your flash0 (space in memory stick isn't counted). Lastly, please read first the accompanying Readme file for further information as well as the forum thread for discussions. You are all aware that there is always a risk of bricking your PlayStation Portable (PSP) whenever you flash any kind of file. Given that Dark_AleX released 3.30 Open Edition firmware just a few days ago, expect the resident PSP developers at the QJ.Net Forums to start polishing up their homebrew projects with a corresponding update. And that's exactly what Pharonyk has done, as LOLstation - POPS Fix gets boosted up to 3.30OE compatibility. As the coder stated in the README at the forums regarding this PSP-based app's use, "This Homebrew will flash two files to your flash0 to allow you to have a custom boot and play PSX games. If you didn't know, having a custom 'opening_plugin.rco" (boot) would interfere with your PSP POPStation..'" Full usage instructions and other important details are available in the README file. Keep in mind that this PSP app will run on firmwares 3.10/3.30OE only, and that there is always a risk of bricking your PSP when you flash a file - you have been warned. With that said, we also suggest readers try to visit this application's release thread over at the QJ.Net Forums for other additional details. Enjoy the download! Visit: QJ's PSP Development Forum UPDATE: Reading your comments, we decided to look into this matter. Apparently, coder Pharonyk has recently updated his forum post and said that the download would only work on 3.10 OE. He also mentioned that you could ask the 3.30 version from him by simply sending him a private message. So if you're still interested, click on the QJ PSP development forum link and get in touch with Pharonyk himself. |

Homebrew developer Pharonyk dropped by QJ.Net Forums today and released an application that, if loaded right, will make all of you go laughing out loud with joy. The application is called LOLstation - POPS Fix and quite helpful if you're the type that wants playing PXX video games on your PlayStation Portable (PSP). Be reminded that this has only been tested with 3.10 OE-A custom firmware.
Basically, LOLstation will flash two files to your flash0. This then will allow you to have a custom boot and ultimately lets you play PSX games. Pharonyk explained that having a custom "opening_plugin.rco" (boot) would interfere with your PSP POPStation. Also, the developer mentioned that he has provided an edited "game_plugin.prx" with PSP's default "opening_plugin.rco" that is renamed to "0pening_plugin.rco". Basically, the application is good to go, provided that you know what you are doing. Remember that you run the risk of bricking your PSP every time you flash any type of file. Please be sure as well that when you load this application, you have some free space in your flash0 and not in your memory stick. Having a fully charged battery and the AC adapter plugged in will also help a lot. Enjoy and take care! Download: LOLstation - POPS Fix View: QJ PSP Development Forum |

Pharonyk just released an additional modification for everyone's PSPs. This time though, it modifies the Bootwave rather than the XMB waves from his earlier release, the LollerWAVES Pack. LollerBOOTWAVES Pack - Plasma v2, created with the help of Vulpix's tgaWave Creative Studio, adds bootwaves you can use in conjunction with Pharonyk's earlier wave pack. For those that haven't seen it, it basically makes your wave look way flashier than ought to be allowed on the PSP. Pharonyk does note a potential problem with playing PSX games as a result of using this, though he hasn't specified this in his readme or in the forum post, so we're a bit at a loss to explain what he meant by it. In any case, you can always give it a try, and then remove it as needed for game playing. Enjoy the download! Oh, and Pharonyk, we read your comment. You should have a tag now, you lucky dog you.
