Panasonic open 3D Blu-ray labs - Image 1Sony got the crowd ooohing and aaahing at their stereoscopic 3D display back at CES last month. They also got a lot of booing when it was leaked that they won't release the technology to the public, mainly because you'll need the proper hardware to make it run.

And it's Panasonic to the rescue. The company is opening its own 3D Blu-ray labs, which aims to make a 3D Full HD available to the general public. Details after the link.

PS3 - Image 1Are you in the market to buy a Blu-ray player? Well, I actually am... for my parents, at least. (Christmas, y'know - shhh! Don't tell them!). Here's something useful for everyone though: the folks at Blu-ray.com took the most marketed players out there and put them under timed tests to see how each of them perform. If you own a PS3, you'll feel all warm and fuzzy inside when you see the results. You should be glad you made that purchase!

NEC logo - Image 1It certainly looks like we're going to see some smaller, more compact Blu-ray disc players in the market. NEC Electronics has come up with the EMMA 3PF, a single chip that has all Blu-ray functionality goodies built in. More on this in the full article.
