Sonic - Image 1Six year old Christer from Norway was tired of his name, and since he was a big fan of Sonic, he wanted to be named after his favorite video game character. In fact, he wanted it so bad that he actually wrote to King Harald V asking for permission to have his name legally changed to "Sonic X." The King must've found the story so cute that he replied. Find out what happened after the link.

PS3 bundle - Image 1 There's no word if this will ever land on other regions, but as for Norway (*caveat in full article), there seems to be a new kind of PS3 bundle available. Online retailer Komplett has a 160GB PS3 bundle which includes naught a single Blu-ray disc. Instead, it's packing it in with four PSN coupons for the likes of GT5: Prologue, Super Stardust HD, and such.

Svalbard Seed Vault opens this week - Image 1If doomsday movies are anything to predict the future by, the earth is subject to worldwide disasters like 100-foot tidal waves, a new ice age, and even Armageddon meteors. Or course we don't need a disaster of that magnitude to render certain species of plants to go extinct. A good drought or fire could do that. The aim of the Svalbard Global Seed Vault is to act as our insurance policy in case this happens. The facility stores some 250,000 varieties of seeds. More details in the full article.

Global warming creates natural ice cathedral in Norwegian glacier - Image 1Who would have thought that global warming, despite its ill effects, can create magnificent natural formations? One good example of this is the "ice cathedral" situated in the melting glaciers of Norway.

We completely understand that such formations is an indication that  our planet is increasingly getting warmer but we can't help as well but admire the formation. See some pictures of it after the jump!

Getting to pre-order your copy of Hellgate: London might be trickier for some of you. Not all regions will be having the same kind of bonuses as others would. For one, the Collector's Edition for the game will not be available for the whole of Europe. Those who want to score the bag of goodies included in the Collector's Edition (e.g. the soundtrack, extra artwork, a graphic novel, etc.) are advised to import their copy of the game from the US.

Hellgate: London - Image 1Meanwhile, pre-orders for the regular edition are well underway. Pre-ordering your copy gives you access to some in-game goodies: Dye Kits, Founders Offer, etc. Different countries will have different video game retailers participating in the pre-order campaign. Here's a full list of regions and their participating retailer(s):
  • Germany - Gamestop
  • Switzerland - World of Games
  • Poland - Gram.pl and Ultima
  • Finland - Tilt
  • Sweden - GAME, EB Games/Gamestop
  • Norway - GAME, EB Games/Gamestop
  • Denmark - GAME, EB Games/Gamestop
Unfortunately for the UK, no retailers will be participating in the promotion. Yes, you can still pre-order the game (via HMV, Play, Amazon, or Game) but you won't be able to get the Dye Kit offer.

Halo 3 - Image 1UK's Argos does it. Norway's Expert also does it. Now Dell's online shop in the US joins in the Halo street date-breaking wagon, sending a happy gamer (appropriately named Mr. Pr0zac) his copy of Halo 3 a day early.

Mr. Pr0zac thanks both Dell and the DHL shipping service for sending him his copy of Halo 3 with more than prompt shipping, shown in this picture included in an article from The Consumerist. How's that for giving the guy a headstart in playing the game ahead of his peers?

It's a good thing that Microsoft won't penalize early Halo 3 gamers after all, what with all these stores breaking street dates and letting happy gamers try out Halo 3 ahead of the pack. However, make sure that the Halo 3 copy that you have right now is the real thing: Microsoft won't hesitate to banhammer all those who use pirated copies of Bungie's masterpiece, all the way to year 9999.
