On Shelves This Week: May 17 to May 23, 2009 - Image 1After last week's rather paltry offerings, we finally get a hefty bunch of new releases. The PSP gets the shaft again this week with no releases, followed by the PC which has only one actual playable new game out. OK, there are two PC titles in the list, but come on. Hannah Montana? Meanwhile, the DS gets more than the usual amount of good games. Really, there are only a couple of shovelware titles in there. Usually they make up like 60% of the DS list. The home console releases are also in top form. Read on for the rest of this week's software releases!

DSi short - Image 1Is Sony trying to start a hissy handheld catfight? Well whatever their intent may be, it seems that there won't be anything that'll keep Nintendo's eyebrows from being raised after yet another controversial PR statement from Sony, right before the release of their newest baby.

On Shelves This Week: July 16 - 22, 2007 - Image 1

All-Pro Football 2K8 - Image 1E3 is over and done with, leaving some of us hopeful for games queued up for the next couple of months. That doesn't necessarily mean we should turn a blind eye to this week's releases though. There are still a couple of gems not worth passing up.

While Nintendo doesn't have anything up for this week, it's going to be a busy one for the Sony and Microsoft camp as things heat up on the gridiron with All-Pro Football 2K8 and NCAA Football 08, both available on the 360 and PS3.

Over at the handheld side, we've got a rapping dog in the form of PaRappa the Rapper and Namco Bandai's latest Tales installment, Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology, for the PSP.

Desktop gamers also find a treat this week: the PC version of GRAW 2 is to be released, as well as the Mac OS X version of World War II Online.

On with the festivities then! We've got a touchdown to score.

All-Pro Football 2K8. Sports-buffs wanting to scratch their jock-itch for more football titles might want to give this a try. Boasting realistic football mechanics and, more importantly, a roster of football legends like Jerry Rice and Joe Montana could make this a sports title that competes with the likes of Madden.
PaRappa the Rapper. Kick-punch-block your way through this rhythm-based remake of the classic PSOne title. Help PaRappa rap his way to Sunny Funny's heart, as this journey into music will have you encounter a strange lot of characters, including a moose as your driving instructor, a Rastafarian frog at a flea market, and the ever-famous Master Onion.
  • PlayStation Portable - July 17, 2007
  • US$ 29.99
  • ESRB E (Everyone)

Camelina plant - Image 1There's a new crop on the block and it's got scientists abuzz about its potential to be a new source of biofuel. No, it's not some rare ginseng-wolfsbane hybrid wonder plant that you find in the deepest bowels of Africa. It's actually much closer to home than you think, like on marginal farmland on eastern Washington to North Dakota. Ladies and gentlemen, presenting the little plant that could, the Camelina plant!

What makes scientists excited about the Camelina? For one, Camelina can grow in dry, undesirable conditions. Another thing is that it can produce a significant amount of oil from its seeds, and it doesn't need heavy exposure to chemicals such as fertilizer and insecticides to flourish. Economic, hardy, and relatively low-maintenance - what's not to like?

With all these boons from the Camelina plant, it's not surprising that people have decided to ride the wave, so to speak. Targeted Growth, a Seattle biotech firm, is already making plans with the wonder crop, hoping to plant 1 million acres by 2009. Farmers in Montana have also taken action, with more than 50,000 acres already bristling with Camelina.

Certainly good news for the alternative fuel market, and with Camelina seeds yielding a very high amount of omega-3 fatty acids, a substance believed to reduce the risk of certain heart diseases. It probably won't be long before we're all cooking with Camelina oil. Updates about this new wonder plant as we get them!

Scarface: The World Is Yours - Image 1

Perhaps the reason why Tony Montana is always angry is because nobody ever wanted to say "Hello" to his little friend. Apart from all the backstabbing and criminal activities and the various drug-related problems, that is. Whatever the reason, players will be able to harness the man's rage as they blow their way through the opposition in Scarface: The World Is Yours.

Bloody, intense, and touting the badge of an M-Rated game, Scarface: The World is Yours for the Nintendo Wii video game console puts players in the role of Tony Montana as they try to conquer Miami's criminal underworld. Featuring a riveting, event-driven gameplay style, Scarface: The World is Yours also makes use of the Wii's innovative Wiimote and Nunchuck controller combo.

Radical Entertainment's Scarface: The World is Yours is slated for a summer release. In the meantime, check out the new screenshots below.
