We earlier reported about the now-infamous Dell exploding laptop and how the company has initiated an investigation about it. Now, the Texas-based computer giant is seeking the help of the government to be able to get down to the bottom of this mystery. Apparently, Dell recently enlisted the help of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.According to the company's blog written by Lionel Menchaca, a Dell Digital Media Manager, "Dell's engineering teams are working with the Consumer Product Safety Commission and a third-party failure analysis lab to determine the root cause of this failure and to ensure we take all appropriate measures to help prevent a recurrence." . This move by Dell isn't surprising, since the federal consumer unit has become an ally of Dell somewhat. How? The Consumer Product Safety Commission has repeatedly found problems with lithium ion batteries in a number of electronic devices, including laptops manufactured by Dell rivals Apple and Hewlett-Packard. Dell couldn't wait to dismantle the mystery of the exploding laptop since there was another recent report about a second exploding laptop from an I.T. Administrator from Pittsburgh. |
