Official Brazilian Sega distributor TecToy has just announced a new portable gaming device for the region. This is not an entirely new platform, however, as the gadget is based from Sega's fourth-generation console Mega Drive. It will become available on December 5 for roughly around US$ 100. TecToy's Portable Mega Drive comes in a cool blue finish, reminiscent of Sega's most beloved character and mascot Sonic the Hedgehog. This week, SEGA will be releasing several Virtual Console titles for European Wii owners. Included in that list of VC titles are: Streets of Rage 2, Toe Jam and Earl in Panic on Funkotron, Kid Chameleon, and World Sports Competition.Streets of Rage 2 was released in 1993 and is a scrolling beat 'em up. Toe Jam and Earl in Panic on Funkotron is a side-scrolling platform adventure title featuring two aliens that have to rescue a planet from and Earthling invasion. Kid Chameleon, was originally an action platformer on the Mega Drive and asks players to help Kid (the main character) find 9 magical masks and fight the evil Heady Metal. World Sports Competition is like Wii sports only without the Wiimote, and with 1992 graphics. Streets of Rage 2, Toe Jam and Earl in Panic on Funkotron, and Kid Chameleon each cost around 800 Wii points, while World Sports Competition should only damage wallets by 600 Wii points. |

Sega of America recently announced in an official press release that Streets of Rage 2, Toe Jam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron, Shining in the Darkness and Kid Chameleon will be available soon for download in the Wii's Shop Channel. These four SEGA Genesis games will be available at 800 Wii (US$ 8) points each. Street of Rage 2 takes off from where the first Streets of Rage ended. But with Mr. X and his syndicate wreaking havoc in the city once again, Skate Hunter, Max Thunder, Blaze Fielding and Axel Stone will have to rescue old pal Adam Hunter from the clutches of their arch-nemesis. Toe Jam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron brings us back to the planet of Funkotron, where some human stow-aways are now running amok. So it's up to the funky duo to hunt down each one and ship them back to Earth, all the while keeping an eye out for objects to convince Lamont, the funkiness of everything funky, to return to Funkotron. Shining in the Darkness brings dungeon crawling days back on the SEGA Genesis against another evil nemesis out to rule your beloved Kingdom. Thornwood needs a hero to be saved, and you'll work your way to become a skilled knight with help of better equipment looted from monsters slain in the dungeons. Kid Chameleon takes you back to a virtual world inside a virtual world, where you must traverse through over 100 levels of boss stomping adventure. As the the best gamer in town - Kid Chameleon - you can make use of your ability to morph into a Berserker, a Maniaxe, a Micromax or a Skycutter. There's no official date when these titles will be available, but you can frequent the shop channel for more announcements. These additions, coupled with Neo Geo's finest, are sure to keep you avid and retro gamers occupied for quite some time. |
