In case it wasn't painfully obvious, the new PSP Go is Sony's next move in their ongoing battle against piracy on their gaming handheld. From firmware updates to the non-removable battery, it seems Sony has really done the research.

The issue of backwards compatibility on the PS3 console is dead and buried, as far as John Koller is concerned. SCEA's director of hardware marketing nailed down the final coffin on the issue in a recent interview.

Earlier we reported that after October 1, all first-party PSP titles will be available as digital downloads. Now Jeff Rubenstein's back with a bit of good news for those who want downloadable versions of their old games.

It has been almost a month since we saw the leaked pictures of the PS3 Slim and the gaming scene has been waiting for an announcement (or an announcement for another announcement) from Sony to finally quash confirm the rumor. Not long after John Koller said that Nintendo DS owners grow up and go for the PSP, David Reeves' successor and newly-appointed SCEE president Andrew House makes a similar remark, saying that Wii owners will eventually "upgrade" to the PS3. We saw Shigeru Miyamoto checking out the PSP Go back in E3, but apparently, he's not the only bigwig checking out the competition. John Koller also went DS-watching at the expo, but instead of quietly doing so like Miyamoto did, the director of hardware marketing from Sony takes a little shot at the competing handheld, saying that "Mature games are cratering on the DS."
