Not exactly for those disinclined to meddling with circuit boards, but it definitely seems like an interesting project for
serious Wii homebrew developers. You see, hacking the Wii to have two
NAND Flash chips inside can seem like more possibilities have opened,
but for ChipD at HackMii, it's most essential if you're a developer
trying out new (and possibly dangerous) things on your Wii without
actually threatening the original NAND Flash installed. Find out why at the full story. |

Here's a bit of a progress report for PlayStation 3 owners out there. Another dev team has found a way to downgrade your Sony PS3's firmware to an earlier version. You'll be needing a console with an Infectus modchip - and you don't need previous dumps. Check out the full article for more info. |

We know you are still weighing your options when it comes to the InFeCtuS modchip. It's compatible with all three new-gen consoles and we can't blame you if you prefer a console-dedicated one. Of course, we're not even talking about the repercussions of putting that chip in your beloved Xbox 360. Anyway, in case some of you are convinced that this will in fact do wonders to your unit, be informed that the team behind the modchip just announced new flat cables for Xbox 360 drivers. The Quicksolder Flat Cables, the team claims, will allow an easy and fast installation of InFeCtuS on the DVD drive mainboards. When the modchip was first announced, the team mentioned that it can read and write the internal flash of any X360 DVD reader in the market. Aside from this, the InFeCtuS modchip is also capable of FLASH ID realtime patching, Globe Modchip 360 emulation, and NME 1.2 firmware emulation. The said Quicksolder Flat Cables will be available in a few days and the ones for the PlayStation 3 (PS3), PlayStation 2 (PS2), and Wii will follow soon. |

Here's more from the team behind the InFeCtuS modchip, the modchip you can reportedly use on whatever next-generation console you own. We've previously reported that there is now a tutorial out from the people behind the modchip that should help you downgrade your PlayStation 3. This time we'll focus at what the InFeCtuS modchip has to offer to Xbox 360 users. In light of the recent announcement that Microsoft is now starting to prevent owners of modified Xbox 360 consoles, the team behind InFeCtuS saw it fit to claim that their modchip is one of the best solutions to play Xbox 360 online games while still having a modified Xbox 360. They reason that it is because their InFeCtuS modchip can be turned off while you play an original game on Xbox Live. While we feel that it is important to inform you of this particular development we don't exactly recommend that you try this out. For one thing, folks who have more respect for "the law" might get offended by this. Second, we have yet to confirm if the claim that the modchip will be able to workaround Microsoft's new security net actually works - that is, mod your Xbox 360 and still get you on Xbox Live. We'll update you as soon as we have more information on this matter. Stay tuned. |
