Remember the PS3 3D demo Sony showed off at CES earlier this year? Well 3D talk is back again, and this time there's now a date for when PS3 owners can experience it.

Greg Zeschuk of BioWare takes the side of Sony on the issue of Activision's "threat" of discontinuing support for the PlayStation brand if the hardware manufacturer does not yield and give a price cut for the PS3. "Silly," was how he described this threat to be in an interview with CVG.

We didn't see any announcements for new PS3 exclusives this week, but we did get more than enough updates for both upcoming and already-released PS3 titles. Sony CEO Howard Stringer and PSN main man Eric Lempel also said their piece on some of the pressing issues dogging the PS3 and the PSN. Heartbreak also reared its disappointing head this week as we finally heard back about the long-rumored Syphon Filter 5 listing at mo-cap studio PCB's site. Long story short, it was just a typo. Awww.

CEO fight! Sony CEO Howard Stringer has responded to threats from Activision CEO Bobby Kotick, dismissing them as "noise." More from Stringer after the jump.

CNET is reporting that according to their music industry sources, Sony has been having preliminary talks with some major recording companies about the possibility of providing downloadable music for the PSP through the PlayStation Network.

Sony CEO Howard Stringer recently let Nikkei Electronics Asia on some of Sony's plans for their hardware, including of course the PlayStation 3. One of the most interesting things Stringer mentioned is that Sony is  now transitioning from being a closed system to an open one. Stringer also said that expansion to other Sony hardware is definitely in the cards for the PlayStation Network.

Howard Stringer has taken up the title of President to add to his already long list of titles, and under his reign Sony will be undergoing a major organizational change. The PlayStation group included.

All eyes are on Sony as they prepare to announce their restructuring plans in the next few days. Word is that they'll be cutting out some products from their hardware lines. While SCEE's David Reeves is sure that the PlayStation Group is safe, the mood is definitely tense as the clock ticks down to Sony's announcement.

Sony's keynote at this year's Consumer Electronics Show at Las Vegas didn't have any big news about new software releases or hardware updates. Instead, it was filled with numbers. A lot of impressive numbers, at that.

The industry worried for Sony last week when they slashed their earnings forecast by 57%. Sony doesn't intend to let it drag them down though. Chairman Howard Stringer intends to get the company "back on target [for] 2010, which I intend to keep."
