GameStop - Image 1GameStop stirred up some controversy earlier this month when they broke the street date on Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360, PS3, and PC). The retailer owned up to the action, saying that it was done to protect their consumer base. It appears the consumer base needed a lot of protecting, now that they've broken the date on two more major releases: Assassin's Creed II (PS3, Xbox 360, and PC), and Left 4 Dead 2 (Xbox 360, PC).

Yes, seriously - Image 1While GameStop and Activision are busy with the whole broken street date issue in the United States, Sainsbury's apparently decided that breaking the street date just isn't as fun as breaking the retail price point. Gamer Limit is now reporting that the UK retailer now has Modern Warfare 2 at an unbelievable price of £ 26, which is only about US$ 44.

Modern Warfare 2 - Image 1The official launch of Modern Warfare 2 is only a couple of snoozes away, but apparently, it just can't wait. Another game has its street date broken again, frustrating people who haven't gotten in on those early purchases. One retailer raking in the dough out of this whole deal is GameStop, whose outlets in the Northeastern states have started selling Modern Warfare 2.

PS3 Weekend Warrior - Image 1Sequels, sequels, sequels. Lots of talk about those this week. While most other companies are busy making sure they get to release a big-name game with a "2" after its title, Media Molecule is preferring the opposite, opting for a sequel-less yet DLC-supported approach for LittleBigPlanet. Speaking of, it seems the PS3 price cuts are also doing wonders for software sales when it comes to sequels, or so an OTX report tells us.
